I'm a bit confused. If he's done nothing wrong then why is the investigation remotely stressing to him? If anything he should be welcoming the investigation.

The most likely scenario is that there are shades of grey.

I'm betting that while Clarkson doesn't agree with the way he's being portrayed, he would have participated in some sensitive, raw and emotional discussions with players and families. And while he thought he was doing so in good faith and with the best of intentions, it may not have been received in that manner. Each party have their own truths. The investigation will try to uncover whether the behaviour was OK, ignorant, or malicious, and to what degree. They will try to substantiate the complaints and determine if there are reasonable grounds to be aggrieved. If there are reasonable grounds, then the intent of the accused won't matter so much. They will also try and identify if the potential failings were a policy, governance, management or oversight issue at the club or if the staff were acting in the shadows and well outside their scope. Based upon actions to date, I don't think Clarkson reasonably considers himself safe from genuine scrutiny and criticism.

Good reporting (and it's rare these days) takes time.

It's not like reporting on an injured player or a player's contract negotiations, which an incorrect report is easily forgotten.

Something as serious as what was reported last year takes months (sometimes even years) of building contacts, earning trust, cross checking your sources and research, and then running it through legal.

Plus, with the on-going investigation, they also might have been waiting for some information to leak from that, to help complete they information they have come across from elsewhere.

Like I said at the top, if it's very serious, you certainly hope the Journalist/s have taken their time.

Nobody can make a final decision on the matter unless you have all the evidence considered

Edit - just checked - looks like he was appointed on August 19th 2022 and the Racism report was leaked on September 21st 2022. So unless you know something that nobody else does you probably need to retract that.

He'd been appointed but wasn't due to start the role until 6 weeks after the story broke.

They then decided to delay the start date.

They had every opportunity to cut ties, but decided to ride or die with Clarko.
