AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Clarry plays a bit of chess so will likely join the cats chess club and would love to get into farmingSo I guess the two new team mates Bazza and Clarry will get to spend a bit of time together. Do they share any hobbies??
The implications was that Pert rang clubs he thought had an interest in Clarry and THEN he had a meeting with Geelong. Not that he just chose Geelong after he heard he was on the outer.
Why would he choose a club that his manager would have told him probably doesn't have the capital? Why would Geelong players be so desperate to get him out to a farm 24 hours later?
Geelong meanwhile are spending a first rounder on a player who sprays it for days and who the doggies have barely missed.
If that is Smith's worth, contract or not pre 2023 Clarry is a dual all aus four times BNF winner.
I literally don't think Geelong can make this work.
My post said that he plays chess and is interested in farming....love how much of a gun you admit he is now that he's rumoured to go to you. You're flipping and flopping more than Dangerflop.
It's hard to pin down but the sequence of events sounds like Pert was shopping him to clubs that apparently weren't interested, most likely he was talking to the Crows given their previous interest, maybe others.
Journos then said that MFC were shocked to find Clarry meeting with Geelong after he found out he was getting pushed out.
So sounds like Geelong weren't on the mailing list for Pert but when Clarry found out he made the call
Sounds like he was trying to buy a pick for holding onto Oliver's cap spacePert was shopping him around to clubs lower on the ladder hoping to attract a high pick for him. Geelong weren’t contacted. Funnily and oddly enough, Oliver found out about it (who would have thought?!). The rest you know.
Thats cool. Is it also okay if Bailey's brother Joel hangs out as well? They both play football.
Mate have you seen the list of retirements we've got over the next few years?Melbourne surely are not paying a cent of his contract if he was to leave. Geelong just create new contract that he agrees to.
Obviously Geelong have no way of getting appropriate draft capital to appease Melbourne.
Plenty of other clubs in the AFL that would have correct salary cap space to gamble on him.
If he, Smith and Martin end up at Geelong it shows that salary caps don’t exist.

This whole thing sounds like an episode of arrested development with Pert as Larry David
He’s not walking away from money though is he, just a question of who’s paying it. Probably the most interesting trade scenario I can rememberMelbourne surely are not paying a cent of his contract if he was to leave. Geelong just create new contract that he agrees to.

It's actually kind of insane. It's impossible to tell if you're getting a player who will be a bona fide star or if you're getting ben cousins. He’s not walking away from money though is he, just a question of who’s paying it. Probably the most interesting trade scenario I can remember
It's very much genuine but a long way from a done deal. The clubs wouldn't have even opened talks yet.
Cheers, guys.Scoops is alright once you realise that 1. The controversial stuff he says is opinion based and not something he is reporting to be true (IE. "they won't pick him Mitch") and 2. When a Journo is saying something and a club says it's not true 95% of the time the club is the one lying (IE. Saints not putting a contract the Merrett, Cox never meeting with Essendon in 2020 both of which very much did happen)
Not on the payroll, just getting a really good deal on some property near Corio Bay like everyone else at the Cattery. So this Pert fellow... is he on our payroll because that was some fine recruiting indeed.
No current season stats available
I am guessing Clayton has cleaned up his act and is fit and raring to go given Geelong are interested?
Petracca is a better comparison. Both on long contracts, and wanted to leave.
Dees held trac to his contract because Collingwood couldn’t get a deal done.

It's still like half the best 22 from a year or two ago. Even if they're not getting that much individually, they're mostly getting replaced by guys on draftee contractsMaybe he just doesn’t think the retirements are worth that much because Cats fans always tell us how little the likes of Hawkins & Guthrie play for…
Dees have done a good enough job of that themselves with the ridiculous contracts they’ve handed out.The irony that a future 1st round pick from Geelong would probably mean the dees end up targeting Tairon Ah-mu, a guy in the dees nga academy that the afl made up some technicality to ensure we couldn't draft him. Off the back of Mac Andrew being ripped from us. Add in the mix that the afl decided not to allow the trading of future picks (2 years in advance) despite all the clubs being ready for it just at the time that the dees have 2 premium players wanting out. Thanks afl.
Killing us with their inept decision-making for a long period of time now. I'm certain that the AFL will be doing under the table deals with Gold Coast to ensure that Kalani White (Jeff White's son) nominates Gold Coast next year instead of the Dees. But they changed the points system just in case. They're so corrupt.
But sure, let's keep gifting Brisbane top 5 picks and first rounder father/sons and give the dogs a list built from afl gifts.
Dees have to be really careful not to botch the drafts because we don't get any handouts.
