i would suggest death threats would be a bit over the top. the fact is he has lost me right now, but he also lost me when there was drama over his last contract before signing up.

One thing i don't really understand is how any team can give out a 5 yr deal when the TV rights go up for auction again in 4 years, the salary cap relies heavily on TV revenue and there's no guarantee what we're going to get next time round, if the AFL get 300 million less the salary cap will have to be cut back, i know it's unlikely, but stranger things have happened and if it does any club who has an overlapped million dollar contract to pay out will get stung badly.

Why don't we do some deal to give him a coaching job at the end of his playing career. Why not make him a "marking coach"?

Here is latest about Cloke.He wants to stay a magpie,but papa Cloke is pushing the issue.

Here is how i see things.

The pies have offered 4 years at 800k per year = 3.2 millon over 4 years.

5th year is a base of about 400 to 500 k with performance based clause to top up if Travis plays well.

Papa Cloke has an issue with the 5th year.

Ok What is Ralph Carr doing? He is meant to be Cloke's manager to organise the promo side of Cloke's brand.


So Carr get off your backside go to a major sponsor or sponsors and organiser a 5 year deal with a sponsor for Cloke's services for promtional activities during his footy career.He could easily tie a deal at about 200-300k per year for 5 years or in 2-3 year blocks there is another 1-2 million and now he have a figure close to 5 mill
which cloke should be happy with.

Lets face it, there is no chance in hell that Travis will sack his dad as his manager. David will probs cry and never talk to Travis ever again.

Don't worry JONBE. Look at it this way.Cloke is considered a club man,but only at Collingwood.

Let's say his father derailed him and forced him out of Collingwood.Where would he go ?

Anywhere that paid him 1 mill per year.Right?

Travis will not travel interstate so we can rule out all interstate clubs.He may only be forced to consider a melbourne Club.a club in melb that is close to flag potential.

Carlton is one club but to pay Cloke 1 mill a year for 5 years will seriously desatabalise Car;\lton and Travis himself.

Here's why.Say cloke went to Carlton,all the players there will not respect what their club has donne cos Cloke has gone there purely for money,not to go and win a flag .He will be considered a mercenary and won't get6 the respect from the other players.Cloke himself will have to overcome enormous pressure to perform.

Travis is not strong physcologically.This will severly effect his long term career.If he was leaving beacuse of family or homesickness or even leaving to play elsewhere in search of that elusive flag then things would be diffrent but if and if he left it would only purely be for MONEY.

You see the diffrence.Cloke will stay a pie for life.If he is forced to leave then his career will dimish.He'll have is 1mill a year but that's it.

Another thing to consider is this.Many people are talking Malthouse to carlton,and Travis may follow WRONG.

Cos Malthouse was responsible for sacking Cameron and ending Jason Cloke's careers,i doubt papa cloke wants Travis playing under Malthouse.

Here's a TIP malthouse won't coach carlton if rats was sacked i reckonn Gavin Brown will get the coaching job,but i reckon rats may stay.

Agreed TB but the simple facts are he needs to grow up and start directing his own life, daddy still dominates him apparently and he seems mentally fragile when under pressure. I'm an old fashioned supporter and value loyalty both ways. Dragging your team down for a few extra bucks, knowing it will come out of your team mates pay packets is just not on in my books. His performance this year has been poor on field and disgusting off field.

It's beyond the pale for me, no player is above the team and that's where his actions have lead to. Of course I want him to remain. . .

I think personally even if Travis does sign (dont really mind anymore though tbh) that his credibility and respect that we as supporters had for him will have diminished massively. You cant hold the club to ransom in a situaution like this when you have numerous superstars around him signing for way LESS then what there worth, whilst he is trying to get way MORE then his actual value.

The Club is bigger then the individual (and parent) Travis, take your business elsewhere if you dont like it.

I find all the negativeity towards Trav amazing. Don't people want him to be in good form playing at Pieland? Last year he was the games premier forward. Hating on Trav basically weakens our team. We should be out there doing what people did in 1996 when Bux got the huge offer to move to Port and have banners up around the ground all asking for him to stay.
I find anyone's negative attitude to him baffling and destructive to the club.

I don't think Trav will go to Carlton to be honest but if he did go there for money I will start to follow two clubs, the Collingwood Football Club and the Anti-Cloke Club. I will make a club guernsey and flag featuring David and Travis doggie styling the phrases loyalty and integrity and will go to as many Carlton games as possible just to boo him. I will book seats behind the goals at each end so I can wave the flag in his face when he is spraying for goal.

Different Story Here. Bucks is a All Time Great and I don't remember Bucks taking extra cash like Cloke is.

If Cloke does in fact go to Carlton, he would totally damage any chance they have of winning the premiership. Future signings would have to take pay cuts, creating instability amongst the paying group leaving them open to free agency with other clubs.

Also imagine their supporters when as their marquee million dollar player, he ends up playing like he is at the moment. They would be totally feral. Might actually be worth watching.
