Just pick one of the candidates and let them go to work...

Maybe they are working the phones to get their assistant coaches lined up and committed.
They all would have sounded out potential people that they would like to bring on board with them, but that can take time to nail down from the hypothetical to an actual commitment to come.

That said I am not as bothered as some, that they haven't made an announcement yet and if we don't hear any news tomorrow, I am thinking it won't be announced until after the grand final.

In all reality trade week starts October 7th, but the first four or five days are pretty devoid of any trade action, just a whole lot of "what ifs" and shadow boxing, so still plenty of time.

The bulk of the background work has already been done over the last four months, by those charged with doing so, and the level of input the new coach will have, will be less than you think.
What he maybe able to do is help push some players to commit given previous working relationships with the players, such as McQualter - with Baker and Graham.

Now after prelims finished... Brownlow finished... I can only think that pykey wants to look cool having coffees and sharing strippers in Melbourne with candidates... and stringing all of West coast along.

So you “spent two months considering all the pragmatic, legitimate reasons” and only came up with “Pyke wants to be cool and string everyone along”, now after another five minutes of thought you’ve also come up with “he’s scared to make a decision”.

Have you thought about, maybe, firing up a second or even a third neuron and seeing if you could come up with any more pragmatic reasons? Like maybe:

• some of the candidates have been busy until last weekend
• it needs board ratification
• it needs contracts signed, Ts crossed, Is dotted…

Nah it’s probably that Pyke just wants to annoy fans who need instant gratification, plus he doesn’t like big decisions (apart from those he’s already made in eight months in the gig)

Yeah I was thinking similar recently; they're gonna have to sneak them in for the press conference, otherwise the first one on a flight will ruin the surprise.
