What he lacked is irrelevant, that is it's own discussion for another day. However, that doesn't change the fact that players simply don't get cut mid season for having a shit attitude, not buying into the club culture right away. It's not a terminable offense to be lazy, and teams won't cut their losses on a remaining 2.5 yrs of a player contract simply because someone's lazy or too arrogant to conform to a strict gameplan.

They plod along biding their time looking mediocre in the 2's until the planets align with injuries and suspensions and think that they'll magically perform on the big stage after stinking it up in the WAFL for an eternity, only to realise that the game has gone past them and for them to regret not putting the 100% effort in like everyone else to have a good crack, only to eventually retire with the regret of a career that could've been.

Well, I am sure am sorry that I resurrected this thread pre the wafl game against the falcons on the weekend.
Prior to that, I thought col's performances and attitude could be taken either way depending on your personal outlook on things - seems like he made an absolute mockery of my post to give him a chance for chance's sake...and for this I will forever condemn him to a life in the magoos until he breaks 30 plus and kicks 2 snagga's.

I actually don't mind that advice for Danyle, mostly because his short passing is pretty terrible but he can roost it and sometimes I feel we take way too long to get it into our 50.

Yeah, that one off season has always been a bit of a mystery ... maybe it never happened and it was some sort of dream or memory implant concocted as a CIA population control experiment because he sure as hell never showed that form again on an AFL field.

But, must admit, my reading of JA was that his attitude was always pretty good. He worked and trained hard, was a great clubman from reports that I remember. I remember an early interview with Ross and he mentioned him by name as being a solid worker. I mean, in the end he was a wast of time and space (AFL player wise), but I was never under the impression that attitude was the issue.

Actually, judging from one of the post-match interviews Ross gave, that was pretty close to the advice he was giving him when he gave him his interchange bench spray.

As much as i want Sylvia to tear it up in the 2s before he's selected, I wouldn't be opposed to bringing him now.
I think with him in the middle, Fyfe can rest fwd and help our fwd structure a lot more.
It's a tough call, but I don't see Lyon budging just yet. Needs 2 very solid games back to back for peel.

What do people consider Sylvia needs to do over the next two weeks to be considered for the AFL?

I was thinking something along the lines of 30 points minimum per game
- Possession - 1 point
- Tackle - 2 Point (If you get multiples tackles it shows you are working harder)
- Goal - 3 points
- Behind - 1 Point

So to get 30 points would be roughly 21 possies, 1 tackles and 2 goals 1 behind.

If he can do that he is obviously working harder and I would to see him get 3+ tackles.

RTB seems to treat 'better' players harder and hope that they respond well. For example, D Pearce was sprayed on the weekend because RTB thought he takes that feedback well..minutes later D Pearce gets the ball and sets up a goal. I am thinking that this is what RTB is trying to do with Sylvia, so he steps it up to the next level.

IMO I think he has the talent to do so however as many Melbourne players will tell you, he seems quite lazy.
Mora and Sylvia will come into the side during some of the "easier" games (no offence to opposition teams)...It will be a slow and painful transition I think.
