Collingwood recruits Jeremy Howe and Adam Treloar on track for Round 1 debuts for Magpies

“I would not have thought either of them were definites at this stage because it is very early to be making predictions, but I think they are both a reasonable chance (to play Round 1),” Balme said.

Balme said Treloar had been doing “a hell of a lot of work” despite being restricted from main training.

“He had some problems with some OP (osteitis pubis) last season, so we have just been careful to make sure he doesn’t hurt himself again,” Balme said.

“But you can see he is working extremely hard and he is even kicking the footy.

“So, it’s early to be saying if he will play or not, but I will be very surprised if he doesn’t play Round 1.”

I feel Balme was very UnCommited with his Answers. They where all Maybe's

Balme has been in the game long enough to know not to ever fully commit to an answer. Too many unexpected things can happen when it comes to injury rehab.

Has to be TD because return from injury can't be predicted with absolute accuracy. Just imagine if Balme said Treloar will be in full training and out of the rehab group in one week, and in one week's time he is not ready - some supporters go into meltdown and say the club is being deceptive and misleading. So they will be vague and talk in general terms eg. Few weeks, short-term, medium term, etc.

Did not follow Balme at Geelong but now he is back at Collingwood. I have Noticed he never 100% commits to anything when he is Interviews

does it matter that much he is not back at full training yet, the season does not start in the next couple
of weeks. he still has time yet

Is this the first time someone has said Treloar has osteitis pubis?

Makes sense why his recover has taken so many months. Not what I was hoping to hear

Reckon so, I don't recall OP being specifically mentioned just a groin injury that Treloar was carrying all 2015 season and hence the surgery. The Pies have a good record in rehabing players that come to us with OP - Luke Ball was our great success story and Karnezis come over from the Brions with it too.

How are we looking ladies and gentlemen?
I've been absent on leave and have just got back.
Looking good so far. A few that are on managed workloads, a niggle here and there and some unrest amongst the natives about AT.

You'd wanna hope that record stays on track

If Treloar is kicking the footy and doing lateral movement workouts as some training reports have said, i wouldnt of thought he will be too far away from full training, would think he will play one or two pre-season games

I read today of his 'serious groin injury that hampered his season', when I thought at the start his doctor just recommended he get a clean up. And that he did it early so he could start pre-season day one.

Something fishy going on.

Likely just the club not revealing any more information than they have to as per usual. Apparently he played all season with a sore groin in 2015 so would expect a similar, perhaps slightly worse output this season. Newly traded in players almost never reach their best in their first season at a new club (Varcoe being an exception, I don't really count Crisp as he wasn't established at Brisbane) and so I don't see it as a huuuuge issue as long as it doesn't extend into future years.

Wouldn't want to be a long term issue considering we pumped 660k into him per year.. I reckon he is the kind of player who gets himself up though, has played 79 of a possible 88 so far. Only missed 1 last year despite his troubles.

He'll play like 20+ games IMO, it's more a matter of production which I'd guess would be 5~10% lower than what he's capable of.

Luke Ball was never the same after his OP, lost a lot of speed and agility. In his final years he couldn't make the distance from 40 metres out in front of goal if you remember. Had to change his play style a bit but he still ended up a good player.

Karnezis just floundered in his time with Collingwood, I wouldn't say either were huge success stories... yes Ball played in a premiership, but the OP had a big impact on his career.

It's disappointing news to hear but obviously way too early to be positive or negative about Treloar's prospects. I wonder how much of an impact it had in GWS deciding to trade Treloar/Treloar deciding to leave if any.

It's pre-season so it fits in here I guess...

Just flicked on my telly here in London and bloody Joffa is staring back at me!!!

Preparing for a big season ahead by catching City draw at West Ham.

Had his gold jacket on and all....good on him.

Groins attached to the hip. He had to fixes with the one surgery. He was never going to be ready to train in 4 weeks.
I thought that Pendles, White and a few others that I can't remember also had hip surgery at the end of the season. They are up about, Treloar's must have been more serious or is it due to combo of hip and groin?
