The FWC was unresolved, the language is vague on purposeSo after an internal investigation, an external investigation, a police investigation and then appeal to Fair Work Commission what’s left? Did they all get it wrong?
Mr Cleaver made a formal complaint to club officials in late March and April this year, and gave a statement to Victoria Police.
Mr Cleaver was suspended on full pay on May 1 2024 after receiving a letter from Mr Browne “setting out allegations against Cleaver”. (As per Herald Sun).
Not refuting this happened, but that there was no legal wrongdoing
Peak PR nightmare incoming
Why is it always Collingwood? Like, how can one clubs board/leadership **** up this one aspect consistently for the last 40 odd years?
You've got no idea of the Law or if the language was vague, another poster suggested that and you've clutched onto this with absolutely no experience, education or understanding of the Law.The FWC was unresolved, the language is vague on purpose
As I said, the club is not refuting that it happened but that no laws were broken
Very average and predictable oppo pile-on, at least try and appear impartial - or is that just part of Bloods "culture" lol. Not like there hasn't been major racism complaints made of numerous other clubs/figures in the last 12 months or anything at allWhy is it always Collingwood? Like, how can one clubs board/leadership **** up this one aspect consistently for the last 40 odd years?
Champ.Someone's going to get a champing in this thread soon.
It’s possible his employment was terminated because he wasn’t very good at his job. Some useful background info:
Cleaver first took it to the club, who reviewed the allegations internally. Also brought in a 3rd party to investigate the allegations. Neither the Club nor the 3rd party thought there was anything in it. (NB: proving nothing, self investigation, even hiring 'independent' 3rd parties to investigate rarely discovers wrongdoing).
Cleaver then took the allegations to the Victoria Police and Fair Work Commission - neither of them thought it worth pursuing. Doesn't necessarily prove anything either, but at least in this case legitimate 3rd parties didn't think there was anything worth pursuing.
"The employment was terminated for reasons unrelated to their concerns" - interesting, not sure I believe it 100%, but will be intrigued to find out the clubs version of why Cleavers contract was terminated.
In sum four separate investigations into Cleavers allegations have occurred, and none of them have found the allegations worth pursuing.
Doesn't mean the allegations aren't truthful by any stretch, interesting contextual background to the story regardless. Seems like its been going on in the background for some time now.
we should make a stand and get on the front foot and delist Jake Kelly, just in case the apple and the tree etc…
Collingwood is facing a fresh racism scandal, with chief executive Craig Kelly accused of joking about putting a “live f***ing possum” in a special room for Indigenous players and calling an Aboriginal elder a “dumb old bitch”.
In explosive court documents, Kelly is accused of a series of racial slurs and physical assaults by the club’s former head of First Nations strategy Mark Cleaver, a “Palawa person” who was engaged by the Magpies in the wake of the 2021 “Do Better” crisis.
In addition to the accusations of Indigenous slurs, Mr Cleaver claimed that Kelly also joked about sending a photograph of a ‘Free Palestine’ sign to a Jewish colleague to wind her up.
Earlier during that trip, Mr Cleaver – who documents detail is gay – alleges Mr Kelly told him “we are taking my car; it’s a real man’s car”. When Mr Cleaver joked that he thought Kelly “flew by helicopter”, he said the club chief called him a “dickhead” and “jabbed” him “forcefully in the shoulder” causing him “to fall backwards”.
Now here is your true racistDidn’t have a crack at the Italians because he apparently “loves that wog food”
Now here is your true racist
Should be ashamed of yourself.
Possible yes. It’s possible his employment was terminated because he wasn’t very good at his job.
Of course I’m only guessing, but it sounds like Browne and Ned wanted to see some progress on the culture room in that meeting, and the update given on the short-listing of artefacts didn’t show a heap of progress.
Is this a script from Kingswood Country?
Yeah comes across as something like the Dave Chappelle / Wayne Brady sketch.seriously some of those accusations sound too outlandish to be true
