Don’t want to pop your ego, but this would be a big deal regardless of which club was involved.Of course it will. We all know the media attention this will get & is already getting because it's related to the Collingwood Football Club.
And as a Pies supporter, we all now have to put up with being called racists by oppo supporters because of what was allegedly said by someone we've never met.
If this is who he is, he needs to go.
They range from the petty, as per the above, to swerving to almost run over an Asian bicyclist. The allegation makes it unclear as to whether the near killing was due to the individual being Asian, or whether Kelly is race agnostic when it comes to nearly mowing people down. The implication is that he targeted the rider due to their ethnicity by virtue of specifying it in the first place.Try reading that Age report without losing your shit at the pettiness of some of the claims.. I mean, one of the allegations is due to him saying “we care for our indigenous boys here at the club”
The issue? The elder interpreted that to mean the club “owns aboriginal boys”
It's not popping my ego we know our club gets the clicks & people love a Collingwood controversy like no other.Don’t want to pop your ego, but this would be a big deal regardless of which club was involved.

That wasn't the complaint. The complaint was the he later called her "that dumb old bitch".Try reading that Age report without losing your shit at the pettiness of some of the claims.. I mean, one of the allegations is due to him saying “we care for our indigenous boys here at the club”

So Fremantle get an even higher draft pick?It wont, its a punitive measure
Unprofessional? Yes. Racist? No.The complaint was the he later called her "that dumb old bitch".
Clubs will do anything to protect their own reputation. I have seen this before but not specifically in this industry. Some useful background info:
Cleaver first took it to the club, who reviewed the allegations internally. Also brought in a 3rd party to investigate the allegations. Neither the Club nor the 3rd party thought there was anything in it. (NB: proving nothing, self investigation, even hiring 'independent' 3rd parties to investigate rarely discovers wrongdoing).
Cleaver then took the allegations to the Victoria Police and Fair Work Commission - neither of them thought it worth pursuing. Doesn't necessarily prove anything either, but at least in this case legitimate 3rd parties didn't think there was anything worth pursuing.
"The employment was terminated for reasons unrelated to their concerns" - interesting, not sure I believe it 100%, but will be intrigued to find out the clubs version of why Cleavers contract was terminated.
In sum four separate investigations into Cleavers allegations have occurred, and none of them have found the allegations worth pursuing.
Doesn't mean the allegations aren't truthful by any stretch, interesting contextual background to the story regardless. Seems like its been going on in the background for some time now.
The allegations and law are entirely different
Funny how one club is continuously being accused of systemic racism
You know what he meantYou find racism against Aboriginal people funny?
You've got no idea of the Law or if the language was vague, another poster suggested that and you've clutched onto this with absolutely no experience, education or understanding of the Law.
I thought better of you, how wrong of IYou find racism against Aboriginal people funny?
Yep agree with all that. Specifically the ‘3rd party’ investigation. Similar to IDF commissioning the Brereton report which exonerated all military leadership with complicity in war crimes. Set the parameters of the investigation, get the desired outcome.Clubs will do anything to protect their own reputation. I have seen this before but not specifically in this industry.
It's interesting that they did a self administered investigation. That is in no way acceptable.
Collingwood would have chosen a '3rd party' to investigate who was likely to provide a positive result with a strict terms of reference on who they were allowed to talk to. For example chosing an organisation who already has a business relationship with the club. I have seen some very fanciful 3rd party investigations in my time and I wouldn't rely on them for any decision making. Unsubstantiated doesn't mean a whole lot except he said/she said.
The fair work commission would have likely pushed for Cleaver to return to work and it is unlikely he was going to do that. My guess - when he took it to fair work he was probably unaware of what they actually do.
The police discussion were probably about the assault. To me looks like there is nothing in it.
My guess. It fizzles out due to the lack of any real evidence. Getting run through the goals is punishment enough
what the actual f*** did I just read?
That's some cartoon villain s***
You know what he meant
The report in the Herald Sun said Collingwood investigated it. Obviously some people would be sceptical of that.
Then it says that an external group was bought in and found nothing to answer and also police were notified and found no case to answer.
Be very interesting to see how this is received in Court where all those reports will also be documented.
This is about Craig Kelly allegedly saying these things. Not the club.
I thought better of you, how wrong of I
No i don't. It was just a joke, it was just funny, funny about that racism. Collingwood has an horrific history of racism, so do all clubs. The best thing Collingwood ever did was get rid of Macguire. if Kelly as done what he is accused of, he should be shown the door and never come back. Wipe him from the history of our club. Don't be naive to think racism against Aboriginal people does not exist at many clubs. Get out and speak to Aboriginal players and workers at clubs and you may learn something.
I thought better of you, how wrong of I
It's not just maguire, maguire is just one of them.
Maguire could do what he did because the club, board, staff allowed the casual racism to happen.
Mark my words, if collingwood is a sporting club in europe, it would have been shutdown in the early 2000s.
