Four rolls of the dice, even in the late 30s and 40s is still worth a bit. Some of the players picked at those spots over the years include Luke Parker, Rory Sloane, Tom Stewart, Sam Reid and Bachar Houli. Nick Daicos will likely prove to be worth more than the 4 players taken in those spots, but in some years that won't be the case. Overall I don't think the points system is too bad.
No clubs in their right minds would pick 4 players in the 30/s 40s over JUH (at time of drafting) Naicos, Sam Darcy or the Brions young fella (name escapes me).

Smooth the contract over 3 years, and use pick 7 to hopefully snare Cadman. I hope the club are looking in to it.
He would have to be open to the contract being renogotiated. Worth asking the question but there's no rule that because Brody was happy to, every other player will be willing, especially if it's a backdated contract.

I just think they've got the maths a bit off. I suspect that they've done the maths that 4 picks in the 30s is likely to give you as much good footy as one high pick, but I suspect they haven't factored in list spots and that 1 high pick plus 3 end of draft picks is likely to give you a lot more good footy than 4 picks in the 30/40 range. If they'd got the maths correct, you wouldn't routinely get extra points from trading down.

Offer 3x $600k. Gives him a higher payday than his 2x $800k and more security of a longer term deal. Makes it manageable for us. Whoever does the deal is almost guaranteed to do something similar.

For what it’s worth,I don’t think DeGoey has any intention to play for St Kilda,or any other club for that matter,I think he’s just trying to extract the best possible deal out of Collingwood, including baulking at the so called behavioural clause. From what I’ve read the behavioural clause doesn’t sound too onerous, and only includes termination if there is a serious case of misbehaviour,ie arrest or imprisonment.I think DeGoey will sign up to it in the end.I couldn’t imagine the club losing both DeGoey and Grundy at the same time.

T

Is this a joke?

Grundy, 2 x AA and a 2 x B+F. Not to mention it was more recent than when Beams was a AA.
Don't really want to defend the Beams trade but in 2018 Beams came sixth in the Brownlow, was in the AA squad and shouldn't have been overlooked for the AA team. He had a ripper year and for all intents and purposes looked like going on with it. Grundy's form going into this trade period pales in comparison.

Yeah, Beams was in frustratingly good form. Frustrating insofar as him doing next to nothing in his second stint here

We wouldn’t need to add anything back to an Ollie for Geelongs first 2023 pick.
48 is too much for Hayes.
But I like your ingenuity.

He's not the team's most damaging player, unless you mean his off field antics. He doesn't have the consistency to be an elite player and shouldn't be paid as one. Went missing when we needed him against Sydney.
The easiest decision Collingwood can make is to let De Goey go. Mitchell can replace De Goey in the short term and if they get Fiorini as well, then you have a long term replacement.
And best of all, you probably don't have to push your star ruckman out of the club for cap reasons.
Mitchell runs out the back of the contest....Degoey runs out the front. This is what makes the Pies a better side with him in it.

Can we start a new thread that isn’t a complete cesspool filled with incessant bickering, and just reports on trade and FA updates? Every time I open this thread for an update I want to gauge my eyes out.

Good Luck it will get even worse closer we get
