Only pick 28 is for Henry though. Crap shoot at that point.

The preference would have been to bring in a young player, recovering the two years of lost development.

No doubt Henry going out is a loss and we haven't replaced that in the trade period.

Who cares, the sook is out of the club, and good riddance. Imagine a 2 year player threatening a club, that firstly gave him an opportunity, looked after him and developed him to a senior AFL player, that if he isn't traded he will walk to the draft, and he doesn't want to play with the club, in any circumstance. What a twat, so l don't care if we got pick 51 for him, l'm just happy he has farked off.
I hope he enjoys his time in the Geelong VFL side....🤣
If he plays against us, at AFL level which l doubt, but if the Cats have a string of injuries and he gets a game, then l want big bad Billy Frampton to run right through him.....!!

Our expectations were so low that some now claim this is a win for Collingwood.

Henry will go on to be a top tier AFL player.

Really disappointing result for Collingwood.
Speculative. Unless he can improve upon his weaknesses, which he hasn’t in his two years at Collingwood, he’s got just as much chance of being another Daniel Menzel (after knees). A super goal threat, but with no defensive pressure who lets the ball waltz out of the forward line ad nauseum.

Looking at the overall picture of our trade period, and I’m happy.

Out: Grundy & Henry, future 2nd & 3rd

In: McStay, Hill, Frampton, Mitchell, picks 25 & 27

We‘ve recruited to fix weak spots in the list - our 2023 best 22 looks way better and our depth has been shored up.

Yes overall we have done well to address some list weaknesses.

Still think teams will continue to have us on the arse end of the deals moving forward which is disappointing.

Great trade period.

Lost 2 players who arguably could be or should be best 22 but weren't this year.

But replaced them with 3 best 22 players, all big needs.

Worst part is our draft hand next year is pretty shitty but our hand this year isn't so bad.

Out of the 22 that played in the prelim, who do you believe will make way for the 3 new recruits?

We likely got Mitchell for 41 and 50.

So effectively we gave up Henry for pick 25 and wrighty helped his old team get a peripheral player to make it all look shiny.
You're exaggerating it. In your assessment the Cats got nothing for Stephens.

We traded Henry for 25 and part of Mitchell's value. Not ideal, but the Cats weren't offering fair value, so we did what we could.

38, 48, 55, future second, future fourth were traded to get 25.

They overpaid to get the 25 pick in hoping we would just accept that. GW laughed at them.

They've had to cough up Cooper Stevens (a pick 16 himself) on top of 25 to get Ollie in.
That’s after they couldn’t find a home for esavu who will now be slogging away for another year in the vfl competing with Henry for a game

Any chance we might be able to trade 25 or 27 for a future 2nd on or before draft day?

Overall, this ended up being a really acceptable deal. Pick 25 and Mitchell for Ollie and a couple of picks we weren’t going to use anyway is a good deal. It means we got to retain pick 27, which we can potentially trade in to next years draft, and the Hawks are happy because they got their man.

The best part of all of this however, is the fact that Geelong ended up having to give away their contracted, former pick 16 developing midfielder, in addition to 25 to secure Henry. It would have been cheaper for them to just give their future first, but instead they decided to be dicks about the whole thing and they’ve received the karma they deserve. Absolutely delightful.
