I think what I meant was if we kept pick 2, we likely would have been forced to use it by north. It’s been done and dusted though so I won’t discuss it more .We 100% would have.
Yep. We would have traded it for a first rounder in the draft just gone.I think what I meant was if we kept pick 2, we likely would have been forced to use it by north. It’s been done and dusted though so I won’t discuss it more .

IMO, Draper is much better insideAllan, outside. Draper, outside. Bianco, outside.
McCreery could play mid - he's strong enough but Harrison is too crafty to be in the middle. I think the faster play of the AFL suits Harrison more than the VFL. He was not our worst player in either game he suited up for.
Just what happens, unfortunatelyLooks like rival clubs are targeting Fin Macrae according to the Herald Sun

Sorry this is my bugbear.I think what I meant was if we kept pick 2, we likely would have been forced to use it by north. It’s been done and dusted though so I won’t discuss it more .

And that’s fair enough. I was pointing to the fact the poster was saying Callaghan and daicos. I was basically implying we couldn’t get both in the same draft. As you’ve highlighted, the next year is diff and it could have been used then. It’s a shit deal no doubt.Yep. We would have traded it for a first rounder in the draft just gone.
Yes, he's starting to consistently get clearances in the VFL.IMO, Draper is much better inside
And Macrae had zero pre-season with a back stress issue. So he's doing pretty well, considering.Yes, he's starting to consistently get clearances in the VFL.
Hopefully, he'll get an injury and illness free run at it now.
It was his shoulder that set back his first preseason and then Covid last year.
Ed Allan was going well this season until he got Covid.
It seems to take some people a fair while to get over it.
AJ has elite traits. Great mark, great set shot. Great snap.
It's just pressure that lets him down from time to time.
I'm looking forward to seeing how he goes this week because I wouldn't be surprised if he was on one leg last week.
Is that harsh?
There's this guy called Nick Daicos who could develop into an inside mid if we wanted him to be one...
Interesting discussion on SEN last night by the champion data guy (Hoyne?) comparing Redman and Bergman.Surprised no talk of Mason Redman.
I realise he’s likely to either stay at Essendon or head to SA, but he’d be a terrific Howe successor.
Yes, he's been amongst our best in the VFL every week, so I hope he gets a chance soon. And Macrae had zero pre-season with a back stress issue. So he's doing pretty well, considering.
The only thing though you are not considering is that we would have had a points deficit and any first round 2022 gained from a trade would have been affected.Sorry this is my bugbear.
We would have traded pick 2 (2021) if they bidded on Nick for Norths 1st (2022) or Hawthorns 1st (2022) and gotten a 3rd rounder on top because both teams would have backed themselves to move up the ladder. So we would have ended up with a Sheezel or McKenzie instead or two of Poulter, McCreery and McMahon. Hell we could have done what North did with their pick and traded it for Sheezel and Wardlaw. We never would have used pick 2 to match for Nick Daicos.
No we wouldn’t. Any trade we did would have involved a later 2021 pick/s to make up any shortfall we had, and teams would gladly pay that price to get pick 2 in the draft. The only thing though you are not considering is that we would have had a points deficit and any first round 2022 gained from a trade would have been affected.
We got two third rounders for Nick from the wash up of that trade. Not a huge amount of points and I daresay we could have gotten more than just a future first for that pick 2 from a fair few clubs. So I don't think you do need to factor that in.The only thing though you are not considering is that we would have had a points deficit and any first round 2022 gained from a trade would have been affected.

the coaching staff dont share their views, and in any case AJ will prove them wrongGod damn people are being harsh on AJ after one bad game where almost literally everyone played poorly
I'd be disappointed if we lost him
Quoted on SEN tonight, has an $800k per season offer from the Crows being dangled in front of him..... Gone.Surprised no talk of Mason Redman.

Pencil in a Ginni vs Redman punch on during a preseason intraclub match if this happened.Surprised no talk of Mason Redman.

No we didn't.Keep pick 2 and they would have nominated Nick straight off the bat.
We ended up with a couple of good extra players.
In house agreement between the recruiters. Believe it or not!
Who did we get mate?No we didn't.
Dunno mate as I'm no expert. We needed points and we ended up with Draper and Harrison. No we didn't.
