Geelong played him in defence and he was terrible. Doesn't have any footy smarts to play defence
Thats not correct. They were playing him at CHB and FB because he was always getting injured forward of the ball. Cats were very happy with him down. They were upset when he left. Since he has been with us we have played him forward and is injured nearly every game he plays as he was at the Cats

Another night of Hayden McLean absolutely nailing his role of splitting ruck and key forward. Great player.

My understanding was the cats played him in defence because there wasn’t a spot available up forward with Hawkins and Cameron. Kreuger prefers the forwardline though and that’s one of the reasons why he wanted to move here.

No exaggeration. I reckon any supporter with half a brain would realise we have a slow midfield with most of the players I listed close to the end of their careers.
Definitely an exaggeration, given we have emerging midfielders who’ve won the last 3 draft sprints in Allen, HH and Reef.

If we are after Flanders, I also want Hollands. Package them up together.

Probably willing to offer up our first for both with some kind of combo of later (third/fourths) coming back our way.
Our first pick is likely going to be in the 20’s. I’d give that for Flanders alone and it would still be a bargain.

Over the last 6 games Flanders has averaged 30 disposals, 5 clearances, 3 tackles, 6 score involvements, 7 ground ball gets and a fantasy score of approx. 107.

Can anyone who watches Footscray VFL tell me a bit about McLean?

And Ratugolea was playing forward at the time.

Chris Burgess kicked another 8 goals for GC yesterday in the VFL.

Flanders is number 1 on my wish list for us next year. Kid is an absolute stud and would help set our midfield up for years.

His asking price will have significantly increased in the past couple of months. Not sure our first alone would be enough right now

I don’t think it ever was

Harrison and Reef are emerging forwards. They're not going to solve any pace issue in our midfield anytime soon.
Neither will be full time forwards. Both already spending time in the midfield
Reef, when he gets his tank up, will be 40/60 mid forard, or 50/50
Harrison Probably that half forward that floats around the midfield in general play with some centre bounces.

He plays reliable footy each week and normally is the best on ground or second best on ground, depending on how Jordan Sweet goes. Both are well above VFL standard. However, the dogs have too forwards to select. Suspect he's not on the "selection list" at the Dogs. In stark contrast, James O'Donnell is nearly a lock every week.

I remember he was showing some promise like, 5 years ago
He did his ACL in 2020 and hasn't really returned to AFL level since. One of those cheapies in 2021 Fantasy but didn't live up to it.

He is a premiership player, too.

I see Harrison eventually becoming a full-time midfielder. He's developing endurance and working on finding the ball more. Once he does that, it'll be in the middle - he really excels through there when given the chance.

Since Dew left, Flanders has been a ridiculous acquisition for my fantasy team. I know it's fantasy but the kid went from not playing or barely putting up 60 to scoring well reliable 90+ this week. Happy to have Sam Flanders at Collingwood.

They're not even good VFL mids yet, it'll be a fair while before they're good AFL mids - if that ever comes to be.

I think they are just easing him back through the midfield because of his hammy issues, but he's been spending more time in there last few weeks.
