Did you read the post you replied to? Too big or too fast

Flying off the handle is first priority for some around here , reading is secondary

Kappa said Finn was small and slow in an earlier post. I was simply reiterating the point that size was not the issue he thought it was, with Finn being 188cm.
Height is not the be-all end-all! Don’t know how many times we have to have this discussion about midfielders. De Goey & Fin are apparently the same height - you would surely acknowledge the size difference?

He’s not big enough to play on a Cripps/Bontempelli/Perracca type, and he’s not fast enough to play on the smaller mids. It’s not that complicated

A quote from your post #8445
“Everyone else would either be too fast or too big”.

Oh - so finally you’ve seen that the statement re size is wrong, and needed to find just 3 players who’s size would worry Finn.
Three players is not EVERYONE.

And BTW - Finn is faster than Cripps.
His pace is similar to Adam’s, who’s been more than capable of matching it most mids.

MaCrae missed a lot of last pre season due to back issue I am certain he missed a lot of weight sessions due to it,let see what he looks like after this season.

Pre season is usually the time when players start to look bulkier, the comparison between him and De Goey should be made when Finn has another 3 or 4 pre seasons in him.

Cripps is a 195cm monster and Adams has a good 5kg on Fin, despite being about 4-5cm shorter. He’s short but he can throw his weight around to hold his own.

I’m not sold on Kappas take on Fin, but those two guys are just proving his point more than anything.

Our earliest pick is currently 18 and it will drift with all the academy and F/S bids that will come. Next is mid 30’s. If we had a top 10 pick I’d agree, but we don’t.
I wonder if Gold Coast would accept this years 1st and next years 1st for their 1st pick? I’m assuming they’ll receive better offers from other clubs, but you never know. Even add to it. Can then aim for Curtain (WCE could get nervous) or a quick midfielder.

Well we should just shut down this thread then because "we'll be right" and no point giving any opinions I guess.
We really need to find a Tom Green type of player for our midfield. Quality with some pace. Could really set up our misfiled for the next decade alongside Daicos.

Dogs would probably offer their 1st and Brisbane's first which beats our offer easily. If they want more future picks they could trade one or both of those for future picks as well.

Except his point was EVERYONE - and he’s not even close. Just another incorrect generalization by Kappa.

The talk of Macrae's size and speed is odd. Mitchell is far smaller and slower. Obviously has other advantages but it's not Macrae's physical attributes that will hold him back as an inside mid.

I think GC's best strategy would be to trade their first and future 1st for Norths pick 2. That way they could take the hit from their academy picks on this years and next years picks and because they don't have a future 1st it doesn't really mess them up that much. They get pick 2 and 3 good academy picks and not much else for the next 2 years.

They need points for this year, so unless they can on-trade the future 1st, they wouldn't want it.

Finn is not a twig.

Point is more about strength. You can be 7 Ft and a brittle twig with no strength. Just because you weigh 100kgs, doesnt mean you are going to out muscle someone 5kgs lighter with core strength and muscle.

Hence the point being made he doesn't have the wheels to go with the speedsters (Like a naicos would who doesnt have the strength/size), nor the size/strength to go with the seasoned mids.

Hence why he should have played mid season over an Adams type to get some games into him to test him.

So really you can’t say he doesn’t have the size and strength, because as you subsequently point out, he hasn’t been tested. Which I agree with.

Absolutely , we need to test him before he leaves for more opportunities. I've got faith he will be a good piece in years to come for the 22

They need way too many points to do that. As it stands they have 3 players who will likely be bid on in the top 2, top 10 and top 20 respectively this year. They literally have no choice other than to trade for points if they want to get them all.

Nothing is stopping them from getting them all (if they want them). If they dont have enough points in this years draft the points will come out of 2024s draft or even 2025s draft with pick downgrades. Lets say they need 4000 points for their 3 academy picks, thats about 5-6 picks in the 20-30 range with the discount. Thats fairly comfortable using this years and next years draft points ( without their 1sts for 23 and 24) They have about 2000 this year if you remove pick 4 before downgrading and they could get a similar amount next year without their 1st rounder.

The list management team bid on Blake Coleman - Keidean’s brother - in 2020, and he is yet to play a game in 3 seasons and out of contract. Senior list spots will be tight in 2024 but if he's delisted, he might be worth looking at as a rookie. There's just no breaking into that Lions forward line right now. The talented Kai Lohmann is still without a deal too, but I fancy he'll gather plenty of interest from other clubs, and the Lions might earmark him to take over Gunston very soon.

Brodie McLaughlin has booted 55 goals for the Suns VFL without an opportunity to play and the Suns have to cut down their list, but I imagine they'll find room for him.

Coleman’s stats looked similar to Harvey Harrison at the VFL level, I’m not sure he has the traits though as I haven’t seen him much.

I'd also be having a look at Tom Fullerton. He's sitting behind Daniher and Hipwood, he'll want some opportunity.
