How does that inflate his value? If anything it deflates his value.

Adams clearly isn't going to change his mind about destination.
The longer a player's contract, the more the acquiring club is likely to have to pay to obtain the player, as the seller can just hold the player under contract. If a contract ended at the end of 2024 however, the acquiring club could wait a year and acquire the player in free agency.

I wasn't suggesting Adams would, nor that St Kilda has any interest in him. It was merely an observation.

I wanted Hawkins 2 years ago or whenever it was he was last OOC. Now I'm not sure he'd get through another season let alone two.
He could teach our forwards how to manhandle opposition defenders and get away with it. :p

Same. I think he was kept out of games this season with a calf injury, which isn't surprising given his age and build.

Perhaps it's why Geelong are dragging their heels in agreeing an offer which will take him to the end of his career?

I think you'll find it's in St Kilda's best interests to offload Billings contract from their books as he isn't playing enough nor at the level he was when he re-signed to his current value.

For all we know their books are tight and they're using the likes of Billings and Gresham's money to cover Henry and Dow. Perhaps even another target this year or next.

Dean's not even a miss yet. He's only 22. Plenty of footy left in him yet and his latest VFL game was a really strong performance.

No I know. Even Kreuger is only 23 or 24.

Both of them actually need a chance to show what they can do before we write them off.

I probably worded my post poorly.

Kreuger especially given he's now been "injury free" for 2 months or more really needs a massive pre-season and should be trying to push Checkers out

Maybe they see Billings as being able to play that half forward role Adams will vacate and has been playing all year for us as a more or a natural to it.

Either way…I don’t want us to release Adams for anything less than what he is worth.

Maybe. They still have the option of holding firm if they don't receive what they consider to be fair value for him.

Guess it comes down to the reasonableness of their list manager. Some might hold firm to try and 'win' the exchange (i.e. Dodoro) while others might be prepared to accept less in order to move onto other targets (i.e. Wright). Hopefully Silvagni falls into the latter characterisation if we're interested.

If you see what Wrighty said, it barely even constitutes "interest":

"We have, I suppose, mild interest. Not so much that we don't admire him as a player. It's a matter of, OK, what's the right fit for us?

"But I have heard that he might be having a look."
