I think we use it to get back into next years 2nd round; this then gives us a full suite of picks in each round for next year. Giving us the flexibility to then consider live trading out our future first (not my preference) this year or to just strengthen our overall 2022 hand.
Cheers Crazy, like the former regards future 2nd but not our future first as you referenced.

Cheers Partie,
How does this come into effect?

It’s all about the points value your picks have when the bid comes. The Dogs would have to match with all their picks in the 40s and 50s (23, 43, 44, 45, 52). These picks would disappear and some of our picks in the 40s and 50s would move up spots and thus gain more points.

It ends up being just under 200 extra points If the Dogs have to use all their picks.

And the penny drops, hopefully GWS are very accommodative in choosing Darcy seeing we gifted them pick 2. :'(

Not happening… According to Tyson Otto at least

Who is this Tyson Otto? Never heard of him. He obviously has the opposite mail to everyone else in the industry re: pick 1. Or his info is 2 months old!

I feel under Buck's he was instructed moreso to hit the ball to ground advantage rather than back yourself to mark. Would like to see Cox less heavy in the legs so he could get to more contests/ more mobility.
You might be right, I feel he needs to learn to read the play better and the flight of the ball. He seems to jump early or late. We've seen what he's capable of when he gets it right, he's a real confidence player. He might need some work above the shoulders. Get's the brain firing and the rest will marry up very quickly.

As for getting it to ground, I think you could be on to something, until McCreery came along, we haven't had that crumbing forward, but Cox and BM haven't played many games together. A couple of genuine forward pockets could help Maso too.

I genuinely love Cox...should've said Mason..anyway, he's not a natural footballer and it shows, we all know it, but, I think 2022 may be his last season unless he can really change something, something wall know as well. He could still play a couple of years if he finds some his hands. I've attended some open sessions and he is a genuine fan favourite, he had all the time in the world for everyone, but football is a business.

Great read mate, if it is between the ears here's hoping the new coaches can assist him in realising his potential as he seems a genuine individual. Agree, he is running out of time and we require more quality in the tall department in most areas.

He isn’t part of what we are doing and where we want to go.
He is a back up ruck option now.

If he is getting games ahead of Krueger or Kelly etc we are a confused football club.

Agree, but would be happy for the club and the man if he proved us wrong.

A friend who lives in Austin said Cox was there giving out the trophies at the USAFL finals, which Austin won. She said he was a genuinely nice guy, unlike some players we could name. All else aside, we need people like him around. I hope he can recapture something like his best next year.

Culture wise, Cox and Roughead are leaders.

It usually drops late October to get the AFL back in the news between the trade period and draft, but I suppose it’s been pushed back due to COVID?

Yeah, it would normally be out now but they've held it back. I think the uncertainty over the borders was the biggest hurdle, but every state has now released their plans on reopening so hopefully there should be some movement soon.

Cox—a leader? I have heard it all now
I clearly stated culture wise.

"Culture wise, Cox and Roughead are leaders."

Culture talks about off-field more so than on-field. Of course, it can include on-field but it generally refers to what happens away from the footy field. Cox has done a lot of good community work here and in the states to grow AFL, lead younger players by having role-model behaviour and not getting in trouble with the law. He hasn't, to my knowledge, ever been arrested, caught speeding or drink driving. Nor has he undertaken questionable behaviour whilst on holiday. In fact, he was seen helping at a USAFL carnival. So if we're talking about off-field behaviour Cox is greater than and more of a leader than many others.

That is my assessment also. He has improved over the years and could continue to do so. Quick glance at the stats he averages 1 contested mark a game, Brodie Mihocek 1.38 as a full time forward. The only two players higher last year were Cox and Moore as a backman. There is no reason why Grundy couldn’t become a more consistent marker with more forward time.
As a regular long down the line option, he's probably in as many marking contests as anyone and significantly they're often against rucks who don't defend as well as AFL defenders.

I don't rate Cox as a footballer at all but as a leader id have to agree he would be right up there. Now you can't have a bloke who is not in your best 30 players in the leadership group but in terms of his character, his actions(footballing performance aside) and ability to influence others I can't think of many id rate higher. I've had the pleasure of meeting cox a couple of times and he has impressed me as a person as much as any Collingwood player I have met. Has a terrific attitude and understands how lucky he is to have the opportunity that many young boys in the country dream of. He is confident, intelligent and gracious in his attitude and time towards all fans. If he was a much better footballer I think he would be an excellent captain and I think he is destined for much success after he retires from footy.
