Here's a thought.
Forget Houston.
Do deals for Noble and Richards and trade F1
Get Smith in the draft, after one of his close mates gets in his ear, for whatever picks we get from the above
And ask the dogs for a discount on Treloar's pay cause we are being good Kenties.

Why don’t we chase stringer once and if we secure Houston? He’d be perfect for us as he can be injected in the guts sporadically and will give jordy and co a chop out. 30 to 40 goals a year. He has a good 2 years in him. If we secured him and Houston we’d be a serious contender next year
Clearly you haven’t heard McRae called stringer fat and there was a punch on

It's not hubris. It's because historically Collingwood rarely finish near the bottom of the ladder. In the last 20 years we've finished bottom 4 only two times. End of 2020 the odds were just as likely for us to drop or rise a couple of spots, as shown by our meteoric rise back up a

Imo many on here sound just like Essendon and Carlton supporters in the late 90s.

The 3 teams fortunes were reversed most that decade.

Every team will eventually come down.

The Ginnivan news broke a day before the end of trade period from memory. Deal done next day.
It was.. I unfortunaely remember this way too easily, the monday of the final week. It was mentioned he toured hawks facilities after he got back from bali.
But it was around this time the media was urging him to leave once the shultz deal seemed to be happening.

I'd rather sound like an Essendon supporter in the late 90's right before they won a premiership in 2000 and had one of the most dominant seasons in history in 2001, than whatever this outlook you're trying to spruik right now is.

Gullan Brad Johnson and Huddo on trade day Foxtel all barracking urging Carlton to pull the trigger on Houston and use pick 12

Really quite sickening the media

Since when is Noble in that crew? It used to 100% be Bianco.
He probably still is one of his besties. But he's been gone from the Pies for a while now 🤣

Murphy was too. As were the Brown brothers.

I assumed the poster was referring to the last 3 .. Ginni, Nobes, IQ. IQ being the only one still at the Pies.

We see now why we where so Keen to Trade him Away

At Pick 6 we drafted the Rising Star. A player who kicked 40 goals in a team that came within a kick of winning a premiership.

A player Kevin Sheehan labelled the best talent and best player in the draft.

Obviously, in hindsight, it’s easy to say it was a wasted pick and we should have drafted a player who has developed better, but can we stop pretending recruiters are supposed to see through a crystal ball and know that Stephenson is going to struggle with professionalism/motivation as his career progresses?

This revisionist expertise is kind of astounding.

As if Collingwood wouldn’t have done their due diligence with medicals and psych analysis - you can’t be seriously questioning that because his career went to pot?

Why'd he go pick 6 then? Clearly he was best in the draft and masterful recruitment by pies.

Before the draft there were already leaks about teams ahead of us who ruled him out, and a big part was his medical condition with a view he'd struggle to gain lean mass and potential side effects (he had seperate medical to alleviate the health side of it).

Also since when do we recruit players for a single season especially their first?

Many on here have stated you don't draft players for what they can do in year 1. Hanging your hat on his 2018 and then claiming him a success for our team of which he is gone from for dicking Beakers cup and on top of that had drastically fell away on field shows limited improvement in most areas and went backwards on the score board.
Then over 6 years remains largely the same player says he is a poor selection at pick 6 for Collingwood fc.
To argue otherwise is taking the piss.

If an agreement in principle to send Richards to Port and Houston to us involves us getting 13 it wont matter a shit if Carlton offer 12 now really. Id love to know what the list mangers think listening to this bullshit for 2 weeks

It's Essendon after 2001. BTW their most dominant season in history was 2000...

2001 was the start of the reign of the Lions 4 GFs tripple premiership team.

Essendon then proceeded to try top upand lived mediocre before dropping off a cliff and staying there by and large for 20 years.

what I am trying to "spruik" is the theory that pies can avoid an eventual bottom out after the exodus of 30 plus crew by trading and not bringing in more elite youth to help ND long term.
Seems to be a perception the Geelong way is the right way with ignoring the fact of the stars Geelong traded in. Danger Cameron Touhey et el

Tldr is Both ess and Carlton also didn't think what was coming could happen to them they were so good at contending back then
