Can anyone provide a sensible explanation as to why the Saints are getting rid of Membrey?

He kicked to many goals this season for Ross's liking

I think we should and will retain Reef regardless but you don’t delist contracted players unless they need to be sacked for disciplinary reasons. It undermines the whole culture at the club doing stuff like that.
In terms of culture killers, it's up there with approaching players and asking them to give up their number to an incoming player.

Pies need to turn Reef into Murphy V2.0
Darcy Moore was a Full Forward, but he was average at best, so he was moved as KPD and AA at it.
Chris Tarrant was also a good Full Forward, but when he lost a bit of athleticism, he struggled and moved at the back. As a Full Back, he was one of the better ones in the league at it.

Reef's physicals are ideal, 6'4, lean wiry but athletic built. Has quickness but short in tank. Can jump and throw himself in the air.

And the biggest positive trait is that... he's 21 just turning 22

Reef is a genuinely a good point in being excited.
Still young.. we won't be trading him just yet.

Moore was comparable as a young KPF to Curnow, Josh Kennedy, McKay, Tex Walker and Tom Hawkins...

With McStay and Checkers, a third tall option like Membrey is a no brainer. Works hard up and down the ground, has great hands and knows how to find space. Best of all, he kicks goals

Why would StKilda let him go? or, has he just refused to sign a contract - how does that work.
