He had a full preseason and was picked to play round 1 - what is setting someone up for success?I don’t think Johnson was set up up to succeed last season

I think Pendles might retire. The others will go when they're pushed (unless it's a significant injury) - it'll be called retirement though. We'll see some retirements for sure from the list.
Hill isn't OOC until 2026
Maynard they'll work on over the summer you'd think
Harry is OOC end of 2025, so they'll have to give him an extension.
You shut that dirty little mouth. Pendles is never retiring!I think Pendles might retire. The others will go when they're pushed (unless it's a significant injury) - it'll be called retirement though.
I'm betting on Howe and Sidey to be allowed to roll on and Titch to be pushed but it'll depend on next year's form. Cox might depend on Smit and Steene.
Hello This is what I'm going on aboutWe are all-in on a shot at the 2025 Premiership but if Moore cops a significant injury, we are stuffed.
I’m not sure how we make it fit but we absolutely must recruit the best available delisted experienced key defender over the summer.

Even if the way the rookie list works in practice is a bit weird, Cornes calling it a "disgrace" this morning smacks of him trying to over-extend himself in creating a headline. I can think of a lot more disgraces in AFL than putting a 28 year old on the rookie list.Re Rookie list
Hate say it but I completely agree with Cornes.
Rookie list is a joke.
Nearly ever club has exploited it.
There’s no way we should be able to put Johnson and Leggy on the rookie list.
It was set up by the AFL to give untried players a chance - what a farce it has become.
They need to fix the parameters or get rid of it and just have one main list size.
I agree and it would seem that he’s the other depth in the KPD discussions of the past few pages, but it’s a big if given he’s had 4 years on the list with glimpses of ok. In that discussion he’s an upgrade on Eyre. Then again if, say, Reef goes even okay playing down back this coming year, he’s an easy retain at end-2025 because we have so many older players retiring and no draft picks.

Not doubting your info, Jen, just took mine from Matty (I think). We'll see some retirements for sure from the list.

If Moore goes down you really want both Dean and Frampton holding down both spots?Moore’s form was career worst in 2024, there were times where he should have been dropped for Dean.

I think next trade period we'll be aiming for a 2022 trade scenario with some cheapies. Then again if, say, Reef goes even okay playing down back this coming year, he’s an easy retain at end-2025 because we have so many older players retiring and no draft picks.
Yes they can but unlikely they will unless they genuinely want them in their best 23.
There are bigger disgraces but doesn’t preclude it from being a disgrace.Even if the way the rookie list works in practice is a bit weird, Cornes calling it a "disgrace" this morning smacks of him trying to over-extend himself in creating a headline. Half arsed can be problematic too. It's complicated, because if you do work your arse off, you won't have an arse and then you can't be arsed, which isn't what we want either.
Good to know, hopefully it works not just for him, but for us.He played the last 2-3 games in the vfl there off no pre-season in that position. I think he would adjust fine.
Was he playing as a tall?He played the last 2-3 games in the vfl there off no pre-season in that position. I think he would adjust fine.
AJ was half arsed so got a kick up the arse, but if he works his arse off and proves he can be arsed, he might make an arse out of everyone who wanted to give him the arse!Half arsed can be problematic too.
I may not be a detective, but I'm starting to sense a theme here...AJ was half arsed so got a kick up the arse, but if he works his arse off and proves he can be arsed, he might make an arse out of everyone who wanted to give him the arse!
Poor bugger...About to roll a spliff. Needing to get my head around all this crap.
I wouldn’t consider the way he was deployed in round one setting up for success. He was rooted in the square against the premier defender of the competition with the ball kicked on his head.He had a full preseason and was picked to play round 1 - what is setting someone up for success?
