We only missed the finals on percentage this year, despite all our injuries & taking a while to find our mojo. I think we can all agree Lions were more than happy to meet Blues in the EF than us.
Bloos played the bottom 3 5x
We played then 3x

That in itself would have seen us contesting.

And a clear bottom 3 too. Unless everyone plays each other once or twice there’s merit in the 7/8 vs 9/10 extra round to determine finals.

would kreugs be worth a shot at full back?
geelong trained him as a key back for ages
I believe anything is worth a shot. Most defenders are failed forwards. Pies for some reason are reluctant to make such moves. Rory Lobb was likely to have been at a new club this off season, if not for a move to CHB made out of necessity. Because he was an inconsistent forward who had trouble finding the ball. I for one have been hoping that McInnes is trialled off HB

I reckon our better bet is to target someone like Membrey who cost zero trade capital, then send Mihochek back to play alongside Moore. We drafted Brody as a defender, he already knows our systems and we regularly swing him back near the end of close games. He also plays taller, is deceptively agile with ground balls and has the desperation needed for a lockdown defender.

No it's not worth a shot, he was shithouse in the Cats VFL side as a key back and that's why anyone with half a brain will never try it again.
You are FOS.. I know for a fact O'Bree rated him in defence and he played very well for Cats VFL in 2021. They were hoping that form would transfer to the seniors but did not eventuate because he then got injured and at the EOS he asked to be traded to us.

I know someone else mentioned James Van Es.
I watched his draft video and he looks good.
Checked the saints board and he’s only got 5 pages on him.
Reckon we should pick him up, we fill that many with criticism alone!
On a serious note, anyone know anything about why he was delisted?

Injured ankle I believe and may never come good is the rumour.

Would need a detailed medical review.

Recurring ankle injury, too far gone ?

I really want this to happen but don't tell anyone else. It's a no brainer for me. Very hard working, strong hands and kicks goals. We don't want him as a KF, I want him as an offensive third tall.

The club was briefly interested in the most offensive third tall, but I don't think Membrey is offensive at all.

It's never worked playing Mihocek in the backline (except at VFL level, which is different), while there's absolutely no reason at all why Membrey would be a good pickup for us (except that he comes cheap).

I mentioned him earlier as someone would be a solid option as an SSP trial player over the summer. As a few pointed out it looks like this persistent ankle injury has curtailed him this last two years, but since being moved to the inactive list I can't really find much more on his current condition.

Clearly a talented young player - and would be the perfect "free hit", but not much worth hitting if that ankle is ultimately beyond the point of repair, or if he's not even in a condition to train during the trial period.

Are we talking about the same Mihocek? I can't think of one time that he's played even half a game in defence in an AFL match.

You are FOS, he didn't play well for the Cats in defence and that's why they didn't leave him there.. Your idea has exactly 0% of happening and that's why it won't and you can check back in when it doesn't come to fruition and at that point I'll say I told you so.
