That pushes back to at least 27 based on Perryman and Battle compensation plus bids on Ashcroft, Lombard, Marshall, Tauru and Kaku. Is that enough for Noble with two years to run on his contract?

We won’t get an earlier pick. Maybe 20 + mayonnaise but 20 will be the earliest pick we get out of Noble.

I’d be fine with the above. If a couple more pieces fall into place for us trade wise and if we are thinking we can cover JFN from within our current list I think we’ll seek a fair deal rather than playing hardball with GC. A gentleman’s deal for want of a better description.

That pick 20 needs some rebranding. If it's a deep draft it'll be as valuable as a lot of next year's firsts.
If that’s the case why did we trade this years first?!

I still see no reason why we can’t ask for pick 12. We gave up pick 10 for Schultz…we have traded more for less pick 14 for Wood…Beams even worse. Why can’t we be on the winning end of a trade for once?

We should trade Mcinnes and Macrae, we need to be ruthless and look for better replacements.

I'd also see if there are any takers for Lipinski.

Noble can go.

Johnson and Kruger are worth nothing more than a packet of chips.

No one I've listed makes any difference to winning a flag.

If Richards wants to go, let him.

Cut Bytel, Long, Sullivan as well.
Harsh on McInnes and Noble, Richard’s as well. Reef needs to be played in a suitable position, Noble is a jet and I would not want to lose him for - mid 20’s pick. Richard’s I believe will also get better as he gets more settled in the side, quick smalls that can apply pressure are worth keeping.

We misjudged how our year would go and how highly the draft would be rated.

We can ask for anything we want, but we won't get it unless Brissy rate Noble way higher than what most of the football world does . I hope they do.

We didn't give up pick 10 for Schultz - we gave up a pick that Fremantle and we would have predicted as a higher pick. It later became pick 10.

tbf, this time last year; nobody could have imagined this draft to be as deep as it is. Changed fairly quick as we came into the year.

It's a good deal. If it's a really deep draft it'd be the equivalent of a first round pick in most drafts. A lot for Noble. Brisbane will most likely start lower than that.

We would only know that on draft night and at that point it would be too late to scramble for points when there's only 18 second round picks that GC will probably have mostly monopolized
Yeah nah. Clubs have a general idea of where a bid will come for their prospects by the end of the season and can trade accordingly.

Aside from that, you’re crazy if you think GC are going to be able to monopolise almost an entire round of picks. They might end up with 3-5 depending on their needs.

Why is it that we’re always the gentleman?
I don’t see Geelong or Hawthorn doing these sorts of deals.

Nor Essendon with the Dodo at the helm. He was the antithesis of a gentleman.

We need a few years of "anti social" drafting
We've got plenty of clubs to take learnings from in that area. I'm not in the mood to be social any more.

We need to keep Noble if the deal is not to our liking.
It’s seems routine at other clubs that players stay when a deal is not reached.
Yet at Collingwood, we seem to accept unders.

Cornes going somewhat hard about Perryman at the moment. Reckons Perryman will be overpaid on the basis he'll never be a top 100 player, and others on the list will be getting jealous about the rumoured remuneration; Quaynor, etc.

I agree somewhat but there's still the fact that the figure is just a rumour.

And the fact Perryman has had a couple of strong B&F finishes for the Giants in a strong team, and he'll be coming in to play a more prominent role. I wouldn't put it past him to get into our top 10 players.

Kane Cornes is talking like he has multiple Volcanoes lined up for Harry Perryman next season if he doesn’t have a top 3 season in the b&f
Says we are paying him (900k) like he is Merrett or Butters

He has his hobby horses - look at Sean Darcy. When he hates something he will go hard every week about it. Looks like Harry might be in the cross hairs even if he is on 700 and not 900. Kane will just keep quoting 900
Also he ignores the fact we got him for free and that 550 is the new average wage not 350
Add in the saltiness that he chose the real pies over the teal pies ….

The average men's salary under the EBA in 2027 is going to be $519,000. If the next EBA has another 37 per cent pay rise over the life of the deal. By 2030, the average salary could be over $700,000.

If EBA increases aren't built into Perryman's contract, I don't think he'll impact our ability to retain and recruit players in the backend of his deal.

I get Cornes point. But Mac Andrew's contract is the current market comparison for players like Merrett or Butters, not Perryman's.

They won’t be looking at it from that perspective, they’ll get it and then likely trade it next year for more points again as they’ve got a potential number 1 pick academy prospect coming through.

They’ll get good offers no doubt, but they’re not going to get ludicrous currency for a pick that will likely end up at 15 or 16 by the time the draft rolls around.
The pick will be around 21 or 22 on account of us winning the flag

Bet he wouldn't be saying such ridiculous things if Perryman had chosen to go to Port.
