You really love pointing out your opinion on how little info journos supposedly have don't you?
It's there job, accept it.
If there's little info without basis, don't run a story. Period. There's proper journalism and then there's bullshit tabloid click bait. The ambulance chaser always chooses the latter.

Its trade week mate. Most things in the news from anyone are simply 'whispers'... the mitchell rumour started as a rumour late last night, and this morning.
These journalists run with these tiny bits of info on the hope they eventuate to something.. if they don't, they miss the boat. Its a competition.

"If we can get a similar deal to the James Aish deal last year, we might be interested.." ---> Barret: "Aish mentioned at trade table"
Mentioned doesn't mean we put his name up. Another club mentions him to us, & Aish is mentioned at trade table.

It's semantics, made to sound like we put him up.

Greenwood is a player every club needs if they don't have a Greenwood. I've always thought him & Crisp cant play in the same side, both dour. Greenwood fed off Goldstein in his last year & they got on a roll in the finals, they had a good connection.

I could see GC or Carl maybe into him, to fill a gap for 1-2 yrs with the outgoing players, pretty much like when we went for him, moreso GC as they need ready mades & Witts is a good tap ruck, would make a bit of sense.

We have done our FA Work.

Now I guess we work on the Trades to get:

  • Witts
  • Cloke
  • Williams

To the Club the Want

Then I say WHE Trade be done after those next week

Im in no way defending some journalism, its sh*t and i agree with you.
However, its their job, its not going to change, and complaining every day sure as hell isn't gonna do shit

Care to provide an official source on the contract of Chris Mayne at any figure? Every number thrown around is speculation, because those figures aren't public.

$500k per year for Mayne is the story idiots like Damian Barrett have been running with, but figures like $350-400k per year have also been floated, and they make significantly more sense.

Given that we're not going to get an actual figure, how about we all agree to believe the story that makes sense, rather than the one specifically created to make Collingwood look bad.

Ease up. I'm not the one that said categorically that he wasn't on $500k. I only asked for a comment from the club to confirm your absolute statement. So just to clarify you made that statement on the back of speculation? People will believe what they want on this one and I see your side which is cool...

Shit, wanna get something very good for him, does he want to go?
No idea but really makes no sense to me.

Maybe Aish has said something like "If you can get a decent deal to a SA club I'm open for a move" but I'd be gutted to see him leave.

And Frost? Cloke will be done in time. Witts perhaps package with Frost?
WHE and Stewart could be packaged as well.
I can see us off loading Williams first so we know what bargaining chips we hold.
We want picks for 2 F/S and anything else is surplus to requirements.

I say it be more Like AISH would of gotten a Massive Contract Offer somewhere else. I highly doubt that.

IF Aish wanted to go home he would of Last Trade Period

Newby to the board so don't crucify me if I'm wrong but irrespective of what journos and Barrett says about Aish, isn't there a rule called the Blumfield rule of something whereby if you trade someone in they have to be on your list at least two years before you can trade them out? Sure one of the Bombers four they lost from the 2000 Premiership team this happens to and the AFL brought in a rule to stop that.

Welcome aboard. There is a rule dubbed the Heffernan rule where you can't be traded within x amount of time of signing a contract extemsion, but it wouldn't apply to Aish. We can trade him if we like though it would be a foolish move!

Their job as professionals is to research & report solid info through their sources, otherwise it's no different to the shit we read in here. Major difference.

Great, good on him.
I just don't see the need to add 'it just shows how little journos know' after he pokes a hole in every story. Not many stories/whispers are concrete.... its their job to report on even the smallest of whispers.
People would complain theres not enough news if they pushed these rumours to the side.

I don't see the point of you posting about what TD posts about. Do you think he will change his view on the media or stop posting about it?

Thanks Scodog. Have been reading and admiring your posts for some years now.

The funny thing is Barrett could be reading this saying the same thing. Everyone here is speculating.

Love him or hate him Barrett has contacts within the AFL. He broke Mitchell news first. I would take his word over most people on here. I have known facts to have been reported by others on here, only to be shut down by other posters who know better because they have a 'feel' for what's going on at the club.

If you're going to have and opinion, allow others and don't shut theirs down.

I had a quick visit to Mayne's welcome thread. Sheesh, some awful sh!t being said over there. We don't know what money he is on, nor should we, and he cost us zero in terms of picks. He presented really well in his interview, lets put the knives down until he's played a few games atleast.

Welcome Chris, all the best.

You've now filled up a couple of pages of a trade thread so you could complain about someone complaining too much.

Doesn't bother me, just enjoying the irony.

Hi new here not sure if it's been said but both Aish and Greenwood being from South Australia and it sounded like we offered them players to a team for something any chance we are after any of Ports or Crows players only one that comes to mind is maybe Jarryd Lyons? Could've also been a team asking for those from us but was hard to tell.
