"Several Clubs" is a stretch. Witts is very average.

Naturally Witts will look average when compared to his direct competition who just happened to be one of the Top 3 best ruckmen in the league this year and arguably THE in form ruckmen of the 2nd half of the season.

Witts would have easily been playing seniors in 10 other sides in the comp.

But...don't misinterpret me as saying Witts is a gun. He's not. He's a serviceable ruckman who has flaws he needs to work on. But his ceiling is still pretty high and were it not for Grundy's amazing 2016, definitely would have been playing seniors for us this year.

Happy to be risk averse in the case of JOM - as TRS proved, chances of JOM getting back to his best with a Patella Tendon injury is very very low.

Ditto, but not going in on Rockliff was an error, IMO.

Forget where you were drafted, recruiters need to look at players output.

Witts is actually more valuable than WHE. Ruckman don't grow on trees. WHE should of been done for at the most similar to what we got for Witts

Witts - just outside the range I expected (20-35) at 37. Once compo/priority picks are factored in it's even more around the mark. The swap also shows we're more worried about points than picks and therefore are locked in to take Brown and Daicos. If that comes about I'll be happy.

Hrovat - went for basically nothing perhaps slight pick upgrades, which places him around the mark of what we got for Kennedy last year (68 as part of the Howe/Seedsman trade). Hrovat and Kennedy are similar types going a few picks apart in the same draft and the swap today shows their value as about the same.

I disagree. Can't see why ten clubs would want a ruck who can't catch and falls asleep during games. I didn't see a stampede for his services during this trade period.

Witts' work rate, overhead ability and total and utter lack of pace will never see him excel IMO.

His tap work can be good, but honestly watching him through the VFL finals and a couple of the H&A VFL games I never for a minute thought "oh he's definitely got a future".

I think we got exactly what he was worth for him.

No need to be so icy about it.
I heard he struck out on his own, club prefers team bonding than say richbonding....
