Yeah, but its a stupid arse contract that should actually lower his trade price given some mug is going to be stuck paying it.

Maybe GWS are going to pay some of it.

Or maybe he is actually a terrific player who just hasn't had a proper run at it due to injuries and being stuck behind other elite GWS talent?
You could make the same justification of Witts' year.

Witts' work rate, overhead ability and total and utter lack of pace will never see him excel IMO.

His tap work can be good, but honestly watching him through the VFL finals and a couple of the H&A VFL games I never for a minute thought "oh he's definitely got a future".

I think we got exactly what he was worth for him.
I was gobsmacked when I saw his, (supposed) H/O stats in some of those games.
Witts for two young F/S picks :thumbsu:

Naturally Witts will look average when compared to his direct competition who just happened to be one of the Top 3 best ruckmen in the league this year and arguably THE in form ruckmen of the 2nd half of the season.

Witts would have easily been playing seniors in 10 other sides in the comp.

But...don't misinterpret me as saying Witts is a gun. He's not. He's a serviceable ruckman who has flaws he needs to work on. But his ceiling is still pretty high and were it not for Grundy's amazing 2016, definitely would have been playing seniors for us this year.
It's a little unfortunate that amongst all our injuries this year Grundy wasn't one of them. If Witts had of played a few games in the seniors as the sole ruck this year I think we would have got slightly more.

He is Contracted so no real Suprise we had to pay Tad Overs
You don't have to do the deal just for the sake of it. WHE is highly injury prone, on a huge contract, and hasn't played much senior footy in a long time. We should get him for unders.

Speed trading at its best.
Next year reduce trade period to 48 hours.
Deals only get done when the pressure (time) is on.
The rest of the time is taken up by club officials postulating & waiting for the clock to tick down.

I doubt that would happen.

IF GWS get what they want they can just say Trade is Off

Come on guys, before this trade period everyone would have thought that it would costs a second rounder to get WHE.

It's only because posters here post their wishful thinking about landing him for bugger all, that everyone else buys in on and then accepts as fact, that makes you think we are paying overs. I reckon a second rounder is spot on.

So if we are crap next year, you'll be happy with the WHE trade?
Not sure how you came to that. Pretty sure Horaceg was suggesting if we are premiers or runners up our 2017 2nd rounder would be pick 35, 36 and after compo picks could get pushed back to 40+. Big ifs.

Did I just read we're giving a second rounder for WHE? **** me. Maybe we're doing worse than we thought. As if we wouldn't just walk away. They need him off the books more than we need him, he's done sweet **** all in his short career and GWS have been fire selling the rest of their list around the league.

Just taking the piss with us and we're gonna fall for it

You're doing this all wrong.
