I have a sick feeling JOM will end up a Swan...

If it does its boarderline ridiculous what goes on with their trading

Big Difference to a Young Kid with Upside and a Old Player who is Finished
That's a matter of opinion, I think it's an absolute disgrace we'll get less for Cloke than what we'll pay for WHE.

I don't understand how the general concensus from the media is that WHE is worth a second rounder, but Williams is only worth "a very late pick".

It's a little unfortunate that amongst all our injuries this year Grundy wasn't one of them. If Witts had of played a few games in the seniors as the sole ruck this year I think we would have got slightly more.

You wish Grundy had been injured? Wow. He had a breakout year!

Come on guys, before this trade period everyone would have thought that it would costs a second rounder to get WHE.

It's only because posters here post their wishful thinking about landing him for bugger all, that everyone else buys in on and then accepts as fact, that makes you think we are paying overs. I reckon a second rounder is spot on.

Agreed. He's a 23 year old taken at pick 4 with a bucket load of upside, no issue using a future second on him at all.

You don't have to do the deal just for the sake of it. WHE is highly injury prone, on a huge contract, and hasn't played much senior footy in a long time. We should get him for unders.
I'd rather the club walked away than trade a second rounder for WHE. He's icing, doesn't fill a desperate need and is on massive money that GWS need to shed.

Giving asecond for him is lunacy.

You could make the same justification of Witts' year.
My knock on Witts, from the very start, has always been his lack of hunger and influence. Sure, he gets plenty of ruck taps by virtue of his height but he has such little impact around the ground and in determining the outcome of a game. Can you think on any AFL match in which he was a dominant player? I'm sure Witts is a terrific bloke but mongrel and killer instinct seem entirely absent from his personality. Cox has shown greater ability to influence the outcome of matches in just a handful of games.

By contrast, I've seen enough of WHE in Canberra to believe that he can be a very valuable Howe-like swingman for us, who could give us great drive of the HBF or as a damaging 3rd tall in our forward line. And compared to Witts, WHE really wants to get his hands on the footy.

Count me out of that its overs and his value from way back was a pick circa 40.

On Witts the points value was about 5 picks shy of what I thought we'd get, but then you apply the FS discount and it creeps in to respectable value. Unders probably given the just shy of 10 years we put into developing him that said the deal was always going to be unders given his lack of AFL exposure this year.

give you a hint - 1 of the 2 players you mention plays for the Pies !!

All my disappointment today (starting with the return for Witts) is my own fault.

Last year we got Treloar, Aish, Howe. This year was always going to be worse.

Still need to improve the position of our 2nd rounder though so we get at least one live earlyish pick (in case some club continues the theme of bending us over and bids early on our F/S.)
But last year we didn't have the miracle worker, Gubby Allan. Surely his presence makes up for the lack of a high draft pick or two!

Even GWS posters on the trades board are happy to accept a third for him if it gets them Delidio. It's like people here have accepted that we're simply going to get bent over and are lubing themselves up in eager preparation.

No, the landscape changed as soon as trade period opened. People weren't trading for players, clubs were trading for cap relief, much like the NBA. GWS need that badly. Hawthorn needed it off and traded accordingly. Hoskin Elliot has done just as much as Paul Ahern. We should be paying a 3Rd rounder minimum or walking away.

Why would we get hoskin Elliot and pay him around the same amount of Jordan Lewis but pay a pick 50 picks higher? We're getting reamed.
