The Queen's death brings back the passing of my mother last year at 95. Like Liz, she had spent her entire life in dedicated, self-sacrificing service to those around. There wasn't a state funeral: unlike the Queen she didn't represent an institution, an empire and centuries of subjugation. My mother loved the queen, she loved the whole bang lot of them. In her honour I will put aside my normal animosity.

I have a lot of experience (15 plus years) with vertigo so I'm accutely aware of what a hellish experience it is. I'm glad you're feeling better.
As I said I had never experienced one before and bricking it,god I do not know if if could survive 15 yrs with it that must be worth a medal there or at least a flag.

Thanks mate.

I am thanks mate,I woke up last saturday morning at 6.40 am and the whole world was spinning I had a severe attack of Vertigo and was S------ myself as I did not know what was going on but they let me out on sunday and all,s well.

Ps I have never had one before and it was bloody awful I could not stand up and was retching all the time. thanks for your concern mate.
Take care - my wife had a "super" attack a few weeks ago - ambos needed (they were great) - she's had some good follow up treatment since - it's a right cow

The one obstacle now is that the bandanna-wearing former Rugby player is the current head of the Republican movement. He is a divisive and polarising figure.
As long as that bandanna-wearing moron is the leader of the Republican movement, I will not be voting for change.

If the Republicans want to succeed they better learn the lessons of 1999 and know what type of Republic it wants. Any doubts or confusion, and a referendum will inevitably fail again.

Monarchies are not the only institutions to enjoy unearned privilege but they off the least (read nothing) in terms of value for money.

I'm nobodies 'commoner' '76 that is the most dismissive term of every privileged class and I won't accept it from anyone.
EDIT

My own mother was from what used to be called a 'petite noble' background and simply rejected it.

I learned from the inside out how pointless and irrelevant 90% of their lives are.

Commoner is a term of derision born on birth circumstances and used by the entitled, unearned privilege class.

Deal with it Jaun.

Petty. He might be a complete nuff, but that is pretty poor.

As someone who is is a supporter of said movement, I really do want to distance from that bloke. Hopefully he and Turnbull piss off

Your dancing on the grave of a human being is what is sad here. You evidently have neither the wit nor decency to allow others to mourn respectfully. As for your view of history, you obviously watch too many lurid films and believe their tenuous premises. Carry on watching The Crown and Braveheart and believing every part of them. A sad indictment of your intellect and your capacity for simple kindness and compassion!

What you say you write and what you actually write are entirely different. Can't expect anything more from such a rabidly hateful person, I suppose. God bless you; one day you may move past your petty hatreds...

Sadly I am one of the many unwashed on jonbe's ignore list. Can you do me a solid and ask him for the story about how Dearest Mama rejected her petite noblesse in exchange for a life of penury married to a cobbler in Depression-era Collingwood? Itching to find out.

Edit: you may soon join the Ignore Club.

Who’d she barrack for?
If you're asking this about the Queen, it would almost certainly have been Collingwood. She was always the most passionate devotee of GB's naval history and the suburb was named after Admiral Collingwood, who was the actual leader at the Battle of Trafalgar, after Nelson had previously passed away. The only possible alternative would have been to barrack for the Dees, as Lord Melbourne loved horses, but he really wasn't a particularly illustrious fellow otherwise.

GO PIES and RIP QE2.
