One thing that does concern me is playing this way, it could have the ability to wear you out too soon. I'd rather play our best footy post bye not before it.
There will be a drop off at some stage. I think Wade and all of the coaches at Collingwood are well aware that it's a marathon. Early games, Sunshine, fast track always sees the better teams playing fast, classy high scoring footy.

We will be fine.

I trust in the guy in charge of our strength and conditioning. We didn't run out of puff last year, so if anything there's less chance of that happening in '23.

Form is another thing entirely. Unlike fitness I don't believe that we can time "peak form"; hence the wisdom of "don't flirt with form".

In short, we'll be right.

100%

Our running capacity has improved out of sight on last year. There will be plans to taper and increase training loads through the season. So there will be an inevitable flat spot at some point. The reality is if we maintain a relatively healthy list then the best oppositions (Syd, Melb, Bris etc) are going to have to beat the Pies at the G at some point this season.

From memory Lynch went berserk because Moore was playing too far off him. But the goals dried once Moore tightened up on him. Hopefully he's close checking from the get go this week.

Does Richmond have a third tall forward after Lynch & Riewoldt?

Yes and no.

Our mids got absolutely torched against Richmond last season so Moore was on a hiding to nothing in the first half of that game. It was early stages of our Leppa defensive structure as well.

Cumberland looked a likely type as their 3rd forward last season but can't seem to get a game, which i find strange at this point. If they are missing a fair chunk to injury then surely he plays this week.

If we are fair dinkum then we win this and win well.

According to the club half the team had the flu that round.

I can't help but feel like Darcy Moore has unfinished business against Tom Lynch. Despite beating him in that second half of Round 8 last year, everyone still remembers the 5 he kicked in the first half (4 in the second quarter).

However, after the way it panned out with Port and Dickson, I'd say Frampton will get the task first up? Hopefully no nervous start because he practically gifted Dickson his first two goals.

Yes hope the boys can keep this up until end of September. We are playing with finals like intensity, hope it's sustainable over the season

We get a decent run with injury and I think we can get better. Won't be playing our best footy until after the bye.

I been thinking the same thing.

Can't see us playing All Season like this
The thing is we won't play like this all season, we will have a patch where we dip and drop games, it's inevitable really. I'm not saying this by any means because it's still early days but premiership winning teams normally have a patch where they're off. Think Collingwood 2010 remember we dropped to Brisbane, Geelong drew with Melbourne all within the span of a month.

Even Melbourne a couple years back I recall dropping a few (one to us) around mid season, as long as we are playing this way again towards the end of the home and away I'm happy!

Obviously would love to win every single game haha but doubt that happens

Very true, our chaos ball footy applies just as well in the wet though

I’m all for resting players throughout the season. Rest them before they get injured!
Meh. Rest Crisp and how many continuous good games has he played?
Luck of the draw with injury.
All or nothing as past premiership sides have proved.
Rest no one unless injured or sore.

What makes you think we won’t be playing our best footy post bye? 😉

I'd be interested to see the data on it, but with us holding our forwardline, I don't think we'd be covering as many kms as a lot of other teams.

I am well aware that this is the longest of shots, but if anyone has tickets to this game that they’re no longer able/wanting to use, I am more than happy to pay a fair price for them.

In any case, can’t wait for this match, it should be an absolute belter!
Go Pies!

have to put Moore on Lynch, Frampton can't go with him he will go to Ryan. I think we have some really good matchups for all their forwards. Quaynor can shut down Bolton and Murphy on Riewoldt

Could also try this?
