Only 1 game at vic park, in the first 14 rounds, and thats round 1

Bugger all Vic Park games last year too. Perhaps a trade off with council for AFLW and VFLW?

Even the ANZAC weekend clash with Essendon isn’t at Vic Park. In recent years this one has alternated between the traditional home grounds in Windy Hill and Vic Park.

Yep… down with the patriarchy at the people’s republic of Yarra.

They would only support male sports if the males are from a perceived minority i.e gay or refugees…

or even better, gay refugees with only vegan food served on the day

The club is in a hard place because they didn’t purchase the ground several decades ago

This is at the clubs request.
The VFLW side has the opposite fixture, one at AIA and rest at Vic Park.

Once the VFLW season is done, in round 14, the men's may get fixtures there but I wouldn't bet on it.

Weird having a Night VFL game in Rd 2
ETU Stadium has lights now, it's Ports first game of the year and a double header.

Was always going to happen.

It's not only at the club's request, it's the club that scheduled these matches at AIA.

If it’s a club request it seems to be a want to make Vic Park our women’s match day home. That’s fine, but it was only a few years ago the club was pumping up a return more VFL Vic Park games due to the wishes of fans.

While Vic Park is my preferred venue for VFL I’d be more supportive of Olympic Park games if there was any degree of spectator facilities.

AIA has better facilities, and better rehab for the players. That's what is more important for the club at VFL level.

I love Vic Park, there is an incredible nostalgic feel to the place and I love sitting in the identical seat as I used to as 5yo with Dad.....I also get why the club wants AIA.

AIA is good for the club, but terrible for fans to watch games.

You just have to look at the list rules for VFL to understand the competition is about the clubs and development and nothing to do with fans.

Then be better to bring back the Reserves

A quick breakdown of Collingwood's 2023 Fixture:

  • First home match in round 1, but it's their only Victoria Park match.
  • Just 1 interstate trip.
  • 1 AFL curtain raiser on AIA.
  • 6 VFLW double-ups.
  • Most matches will be played on a Sunday.
  • They won't play Gold Coast and Richmond

Here's also an article from Brendan Rhodes if you are interested in how it ranks up against other teams.

Since they started streaming every match in 2021, I haven't gone to a single game at AIA Centre. Terrible ground to watch footy, you have no hope of knowing how individuals are performing on the other side of the oval.

Its a shame too, as the vibe at Collingwood VFL matches was starting to get really fun in that Dale Tapping era 2015, 2016ish.

I still go but I do agree that you can really only see 1 side Properly

Is the Live Coverage the same as last year?

Yep :thumbsu:

Broadcast and streaming: All matches in the 2023 Smithy’s VFL and rebel VFLW seasons will be live streamed free via the AFL website (AFL.com.au) and AFL Live Official App. Smithy’s VFL broadcast partner, the Seven Network, will continue to show one weekly game live and free on the Seven Network in Victoria and on 7Plus nationally.

Great News

It’s not a double header with the AFL if it’s at different grounds. I hate when the club tries to sell a double header and they are not even at the same ground. How about play it at the MCG.
