Collingwood vs West Coast Eagles

Throws don't exist for Collingwood either.

Lol, it's getting beyond a joke.

They don't need the umps doing this for them, they're already a much better side.

Selwood.

Collingwood by 58 points.

Not bad Steph, not bad at all

A battle-hardened Collingwood, playing on their home ground... it could get ugly :(

It did get very ugly and very early...

What he said. Collingwood gave us a reality check. Nothing to do with umpires. Glad the boys held in there and it didn't end up being a blowout...

Collingwood created a "No Fly Eagles Zone" today. Umpiring was ok, missed calls for both sides, but it happens each week.

The rushed behind - Maxwell kicking that goal - funniest thing i have seen for a long while... The umpire said it very plainly... "Under Pressure, no issues...all clear". Who said the opposition/defense team can't kick it though the goals. :) :thumbsu:

Umpiring was pretty poor but I dont think it really disadvantaged or advantaged either team or affect the result. I saw a few occasions where umps could have played a few free kicks against the eagles but let them go.

Lol, don't quite understand do ya champ?

Let's look at the final free kick count, oh yeah that's a great indication.:eek:

Free kicks were evened up in the last half, esp the last quarter, when the game was over. Yeah the umps had no effect on the result, but jeez they did their best to rule out any chance we had in the first half.

Lol @ the "advantage" given to Embley, and the 5 or 6 non htb decisions against Collingwood, only to see 2 soft ones against us in the space of 1 minute.

Blatant deliberate rushed behind not given against Maxwell, resulting in a goal down the other end. No one was within a metre and a half of him lol.

We had a few go our way later, but no where near as many as Collingwood when the game was on the line.

Embley decision was due to a bad rule. In the end it didn't cost you. I agree with the Maxwell decision it should have been a free for West Coast. With the incorrect disposal. Here is a rule you should always consider.

It is not called holding the ball if a player is tackled in such a manner that causes the ball to be knocked free or come loose from a player's possession.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laws_of_Australian_football not the best source but all I could find im sure it is accurate.

Does not mean the umpiring was not in Collingwoods favour.
It certainly wasn't in Collingwood's favour yesterday.
Some absolute howlers went Collingwoods way.
Yes as I saw. I also saw some absolute howlers that went West Coast's way, and a number missed that Collingwood should have received a free kick for as well.
Regardless we wouldn't have won.
Well of course, and it didn't effect the final margin either.
Not bad Steph, not bad at all
Yes my 58 points tip was six points too much. Half way through the last quarter we were 58 points in front, but then kicked another goal to make it 64 points before taking it easy for the rest of the match.

It's good to see a West Coast supporter that saw the umpiring as it was. I don't understand the people having a whinge about it at all because it didn't disadvantage either team as you say.

Total utter frecking bullshit.

Listen to what the umpire said when the WCE asked for the free kick.

"Under pressure....no issues." then turns to the goal umpire and yells "All clear"

Of course he was under pressure, he had a West Coast player in his pocket less than 1 step away from him...just cause he kicked it though does not men it was deliberate...what id he had handballed it thou...it would still be same result...1 rushed behind to WCE

Learn the rules before making dumbass statements like this.

Why am I answering this?

Listen to the umpire - cant you find a more credable case that that. The umpiring generally was about as strong as the pressure maxwell was under.

AFL said it was incorrect decision so how about you learn the rules.

The free kick count is the ONLY method of determining the evenness of the umpiring. Until they start counting missed or incorrect decisions as official stats, then everything else is subjective bullshit from a teary supporter.

BTW, if you're older than 12 and you're saying "lol" then you really need to grow a pair.

Don't need to read past here. You've already made it clear you have no idea, this just reinforces it.

AFL UMPIRING manager Jeff Gieschen says a free kick should have been paid against Collingwood skipper Nick Maxwell for a deliberate rushed behind during the Magpies' big win over West Coast at the MCG on Sunday.

In the 15th minute of the second quarter, Maxwell crumbed the ball off a marking contest then turned and kicked it through the opposition goals.

A behind was added to the Eagles' score and Collingwood was allowed to kick the ball back into play.

But West Coast should have been handed a shot at goal from close range instead.

"Maxwell had opposition players in the vicinity but he wasn’t under immediate pressure," Gieschen said.

"Nick’s sole intention in this situation after he had taken clean possession was to put the ball through for a score to the opposition.

"We instruct umpires that a player needs to be under immediate pressure to be allowed to concede a behind."

Just stating what everyone who was watchinbg the game knew at the time. :thumbsu:

Side will be a bit different this week.

Davis Tarrant Maxwell
Shaw Reid O'Brien
Swan Ball Johnson
Didak Cloke Beams
Brown Dawes Krakouer

Jolly Pendlebury Wellingham

Blair Toovey Sidebottom Macaffer

In: Shaw Davis Maxwell Macaffer

Out: Sinclair Fasolo Goldsack Wood

In the ruck department last week, Darren Jolly looked like a 45yr old man, who is clearly underdone with Cameron Wood as a back up and Leigh Brown who is anything but a ruckman.

I'm very suprised Wood has been dropped and not even named as an EMG to cater against the almighty Cox/NN combo. Mick trying to play mind games during the week with their ruck combination.

Very happy with that result as an Eagles fan, and even happier Maxwell has been recalled who is undercooked also.
