Prelims start in about 30 mins, staying up for the whole card (and regretting it tomorrow)

Mikael Lawal takes on Isaac Chamberlain for the British and Commonwealth Cruiserweight title at around 7am AEDT too.

Disappointing, just clipped him over the guard and that was the end of it. Hard to say the weight cut was a factor because Islam struggled with it too.

Volk should just go back to featherweight and continue cleaning out the division

Lawal v Chamberlain on in 20 minutes and then Jack Catterall in an hour and a half. Most won't care about either but I like the UK guys lol

Mate he was blindsided but took the fight for the $$$$. He was overmatched the first time and almost pulled off a shock upset. This was only ever ending one way, Dana white is ruthless and shameless, fighters have little leverage in the ufc and need to take the cash when it’s offered. Volks pride will be hurt let’s hope he can get back on the horse, you know how this often goes once the feeling of invincibility goes the losses start to mount up.

I don't really believe that. I thought he matched up very well last time and would've been a deserving winner if he pulled it off in the first fight. Not sure Volk is one to take pay days, yes got paid well but think it was about more than that for him.

Also don't really think the result will bother him in terms of what he does in the featherweight division. He's head and shoulders above anyone there and has dominated the division for years, think he'll go back down and continue to do that. If the lightweight title changes hands he may go for it again but think he'll spend a few fights in FW at least.

We‘ll see, don’t be shocked if he follows an Adesanya like trajectory the line between unbeatable and his situation is one so many fighters have followed. Why would anyone take a fight against a much bigger guy with no camp coming off holidays unless it was all about the $$$. Dana needed him of short notice and payed accordingly and not just for this fight but with a can‘t refuse contract especially for a guy in a lighter weight class, at least that’s all the insider chatter.

What a boring fight Lawal v Chamberlain lol, note to self to never watch either of them again.

Now to catch replay of Catterall v Linares

Volk about 25 minutes in. Looks like he was going through it mentally in the time between fights, that's really sad to see. In tears talking about it. Hope he's alright.

Lionel Rose v Alan Rudkin - 8th March, 1969

Lionel Rose v Guts Ishimatsu may be the other fight you're talking about Barry - 10th October, 1970 at the Palais

Thanks George. I had no hope of remembering who Lionel,s opponent was at the Palais. I was on afternoon shift, and just managed to walk in and watch it. At Kooyong I was lucky enough to be rostered on for the Rudkin fight.
