Just a thought but if he was an ambassador for the Prius, then we should be able to include half his wage outside the salary cap, like Carlton does with Judd :)

**** that, just give him his own dealership.

Kurt Tippett Toyota has a nice ring to it.

Are you sure Toyota didn't assist ;)
I am 100% certain that they have. Prior to Dangerfield re-signing, Van Berlo as captain of the club and Kurt Tippett were the only Criws players with commercial agreements with Toyota. Both are driving a Toyota and they swap the "old" one for a brand new one every couple of months. I got this info from one of the players. He also said that if other players wanted to buy a brand new car themselves, they would not be allowed to accept any discount from Toyota as that would be seen as a potential breach of the salary cap.

Unless Rowey is talking about something different, then I am not sure how continuing the partnership with Toyota would be a big carrot for Tippett.

So what if we were able to swap Kurt for any of the Gold Coast ruckmen /tall forwardsir tall players.

Feenix says we would naturally take Gorringe (8 AFL games) and ignore Zac Smith (36 games), Tom Lynch (29 games), Charlie Dixon (21 games), Sam Day (22 games) and Tom Hickey (11 games). Gooringe is currently ranked 6th out of their Ruckmen/tall forwards. Throw in Kurt and they will have a very balanced side next year.

Gooringe showed some promise in his first season (7 games but he was subbed off in 4 of the games). This season a combination of injuries and players in better form (i.e. Smith, Lynch, Dixon, Day and Hickey) has resulted in him playing 1 game this year. So it's a "fair deal" to swap him for our highest paid player and close to the best contested mark in the AFL because their going to throw in Flannigan, a player who most at Gold Coast expect to be delisted at the end of the year.

When Kurt moves back to the Gold Coast, Gorringe will be so far from getting a game it won't be funny. Does anyone seriously rate him above Smith, Lynch, Dixon or Day? Even Hickey has moved past him this year.

Great deal Feenix, great deal.
I'd like you to point out where I said "swap". You need to take a bex and have a good lie down

Im looking forward to Kurt signing so you can take a holiday ...

By the sounds of it, it is a much bigger deal.

Maybe the 50 minute drive wasn't the only reason he would have preferred Gold Coast over Brisbane ;)

Mitch Clark wanted to go home too.......

Actually Mitch Clark DID want to go home, to be closer to his girls but he also wanted out of Brisbane. Freo didnt want to play ball, GWS made him offers as did Melbourne. He picked the lesser of two evils. (GWS deals were better).

Which has mysteriously increased his value???

We get hope and you get the best Forward/Ruckman in the AFL.

Did we also have to bring our own lube when we allegedly did this deal. Just to make it clear, I agree that Kurt is going to the Gold Coast, I also agree we will not anywhere near his true worth due to the previous "agreement" but I do not believe the final deal (i.e. what we get) has been done.

That may turn out to be true AFGM, I am just repeating what I was told. Both sources were clear on it but WHO KNOWS I have enough trouble believeing my wifes stories :)

Cox is a once in a 20 year ruckman....... he is that good. And Nic Nat is an athletic freak so those two example are basically null and void. I can't think of a team who regularly plays with two genuine number 1 rucks, successfully.

The price of the FWD/RUCK commodity has sky rocketed immensely.

I would like to know when we have needed a second ruck to relieve Jacobs when Tippett has been playing? Specific examples please.

Jenkins has played a handful of AFL games. He will only get better. His rucking in the middle of the ground is good but stuff around the ground is terrible. McKernan is also very raw. Like I said earlier if you instill some aggression in the kid and he will be a monster. His rucking in the middle of the ground is already better than Tippetts. Its around the ground where Tippett excels.

Gorringe is no more athletic than a goldstein, McIntosh etc type of ruckman. This puts them in the lumbering dinosaur category for mine or Ruck/FWD. He would even be behind a Kruzuer when it comes to mobility.

My main point is Gorringe will not be good enough to play as a FWD 80-90% of the time. He will not give us any more than a McKernan or Jenkins in that mould. If we didn't have Jacobs I'd say go for it, but at this stage if you wanted a more agile FWD/RUCK I'd be going for Day over Gorringe.

Hence the need for a reserves side to develop that fwd/ruck (McKernan, Jenkins). It's pretty hard to develop them into that role when they're not doing it in the SANFL.

Rowe says Toyota are negotiating a 3rd party deal with Kurt to be an ambassador for next year..

It was good enough for Chri$ Judd and Vi$y.

I cant understand how that was ever allowed to happen, clearly a breach of the the salary cap from a club with history of doing so but the AFL just allow it. You can always rely on Carltank to reach a new low

Here is my take on the Kurt saga

1. Mid season Kurt instructed his management to commence negotiations with Adelaide which was a clear indication that he wanted to stay
2. During his concussion period the negotiations were put on hold and Kurt spent more time away from footy and more time at home which started to cloud his thinking
3. Now he is back in the team and playing finals this again could sway his decision making back in Our favor, with this in mind I do believe winning a flag or running close will be a important factor in his decision

Finally someone making sense. Why would he choose to leave a team who will no doubt contend for the flag for the next couple of seasons just to go surfing. If he is a footballer who is striving for the ultimate success he will stay here with his mates.

With all due respect you may be getting a little ahead of yourselves here, 11th in 2010, 14th in 2011 and you havent won a final yet this year, no doubt that you have had a much improved season but claiming to be contending for a flag is a little optimistic IMO based on this being your first taste of finals in a few seasons

It's more about our list, plus the improvement. We have a bunch of young stars whose age plus the improvement would suggest we will no doubt be a contender in the next 2-3 years.

We will finish top four. Any side that finishes there - especially in a year without one or two stand out teams - is contending for a flag.

It's sound enough logic Kristof, I guess the next few weeks will show just how real those chances are. After all you guys won it from 5th in 98.

With all due respect, how did we go the 7 seasons before that Iva Bigun?

5,12,4,3,8,7,5 (11, 14) which for the majority are very good results no doubt, but it kind of fits into what I was trying to say, assuming your going to contend is a little premature, that's not an insult it just points to how hard they are to win.

Frankly if it comes down to you guys, the Hawks, Cats or Pies for the flag I will be supporting you

Gorro wants to go home, kinda limits the choices for on trading. However I dont know if the Power and Crows have made a deal like the Suns and Crows have, it's quite possible.

when did this become knowledge?? i thought i'd read most posts in this thread but hadnt heard of him seeking a move home.

that makes a big difference to a portential trade as the Crows are no longer in a total position of weakness.

i'd take Gorringe in a trade for Tippett, but as others have said we'd want more than just a direct swap.

If Gorringe wants to move back to Adelaide, Port Adelaide should put a price on his head... Like we did with Jacobs...
Surely they are not that shit that they would miss out on that opportunity.

yeah they probably would. i guess it would come down to how much of the Kurt fund we'd be willing to give him, and (whether it's fair or not) if he thinks Port are an attractive proposition.

1st ruck at Port or come to Adelaide and be first ruck at Norwood?

Yeah, Id still go to Adelaide:D

At half time I think we are over paying
