I don't know if it had an influence, but I certainly got sick of the continual soap-opera it became.

I agree, he should have made the announcement much later than he did.

He could have told the players its my last series but it was silly going public with it in retrospect. And he seemed relaxed about the whole series.

This whole IPL issue is going to destroy Aussie cricket IMO. Ponting didnt even look interested in the run chase and neither did Symonds

Couple of things we have learnt this one day series

1) we need to keep young new blood coming into the one day team to keep it fresh
2) we need to get a bowler that can swing that ball. Bracken seems to have lost this ability. Geeves would be great to take to either pakistan or the west indies.
3) We need to play a spinner to give our attack some balance
4) there will never be someone like gilly again for a very long time
