Hollands plays for a side thats been top 4 sicne he got drafted, and plays wing. Its a lot easier for a winger in a good side to show anything than a guy trying to play inside mid in a bottom 2-3 team.

Considering the environment both have to deal with, Hollands is not ahead of Ginbey in performance so far

And even wiithout considering the environment Ginbeys still shown alot more than Hollands. It's jibberish to say otherwise

Ginbey averages more disposals, tackles, effective disposals and metres gained in less TOG and they're very close in disposal efficiency.

Barrass is the one who should be traded. He's in the best form of his career right now and should attract a nice pick. Like all players, he'll begin the decline from next year and soon we'll be wanting him to be dropped - aka lecras in his dreadful final couple of years.

Huh?

He was pretty good and retired after winning the flag...

Flash in the pan? Time will tell - we are getting belted with both in the team and they bring real shortcomings.
We had 30 odd F50 entries for the entire game. Waterman was off for a good amount of the 3rd quarter too.
waterman this year has been solid AF.

What do you want to achieve with this thought ? More top end players or a deeper list cut. Unfortunately the latter can’t happen. Hard to see how more then 6 players get delisted really given everyone with a pulse seeks to have a contract for next year
Our depth stinks.

Pick 2/3 for 2 players lets say Smith and Moraes
Pick 23 might be a bit early for Murphy Reid but I can see his draft profile building and he might be in the mix or perhaps Bo Allan if he's available.
Malakai Champion as an NGA.

Pick up an UFA if possible, someone like Perryman would be ideal.
Take a couple of DFA's as 1 year Rookies like Will Brodie and Jaxon Prior who I think will be better prospects than Dewar, Baker or Trew who are all Rookie listed.

Maybe trade next years 2nd or 3rd for this year.

6 or 7 out would be a good start,

Would love to see this but this would mean delisting contracted players. I don’t think we got the courage to do that myself

Hey, can anyone tell me which seven or eight players in Ginbey’s draft are doing better than Ginbey?

Briztoon, was that you raising your hand?🤚 Excellent, now **** off over to the Ginbey thread and stop clogging up the 2024 Draft, trade thread.

Failure to comply will result in us sending Obeanie over to answer all the open ended and rhetorical questions raised on the Brisbane board.

By nature of the role, playing inside mid, Ginbey be should be averaging more of everything than Hollands. Not many sides play through their wings.

As I and others have said, I disagree Ginbey has shown a lot. I believe he lacks an innate feel for the game, and the role of being an inside mid, and that shows in how he plays.

And because of this, kids like Hollands have shown more in the role they play, even if their stats are less.

He's attended 49% of our CBAs so he's hardly a full time inside mid

And he still has almost the same disposal efficiency and more metres gained than a solely outside player who plays for the 2nd best team in the league

Noone is taking Hollands over Ginbey, kidding yourself with this one

For a second I thought you were saying you were going to send Obeanie over to Vietnam 🇻🇳. I’m sure he’d enjoy pool as much me.

Nah, wouldn’t put Obeanie through having to hang out with you in person. Plus I understand he has his own version of paradise up in the NT.

* apologies to Obeanie for dragging him into this for my own amusement.

I think you might actually be mixing the Hollands up, Ollie has shown very little to this stage.

6 of the 8 players that went before him in the draft. Plus Hollands, Fletcher, Michalanney and Weddle.

They might not all be getting the same fantasy points or what ever metrics you are using to rate Ginbey, and some don’t get a game every week, but they all perform better in the different roles they play, have demonstrated better skills than Ginbey, and know how to actually play the game.
We could have had warlord

The "Contracted until 2025" is such a depressing list to read.

You just know this match committee will continue to pour the games into Darling, Sheed, Cole, Jamieson, Cripps & Petch next year.

Where is the hope?
It’s absolutely mortifying. People need to take a closer look at it before they discuss how much longer we will be at the bottom for

Ginbey's issue is plain and simple and it's been the issue from day dot. He doesn't read the play at stoppage well enough. So he's either flat footed, not in the right place or not close enough to his man. A lot of this is innate, it is very rare to learn. Yeo is an example of learning it through the middle but he was always elite at reading the play coming at him from defence.

He's developing his running game and getting the ball on the outside.

His kicking as stated for years is average. He has a good action but he's just an average kick. As he develops he will get better with his decision making, which will make his kicking look better but it'll never be amazing.

He's second to the ball almost all the time.

He's not clean on the pickup, fumbles the ball and is very much 'two touch'.

If he's not flat footed he has a great burst of speed however his top speed is lower than I thought predraft.

His peak potentially is a bigger bodied Scott Selwood and while he's been thrown in the deep end and shouldn't be having to play as an inside mid as a second year player his weaknesses are getting found out. As stated before he tries his guts out, but it all needs to click at some stage or we need to start looking at using him in a different role as he is better overhead than I thought and could well be a medium defender in the future.

The club is looking very, very thin on the inside and while this years draft looks very solid all the way to 30, there doesn't scream a group of 3-4 players that look super high end.

I would be looking to trade down for multiple picks or trying to trade in an elite young talented mid with pick 2/3. The club does need an absolute elite user from defence and while it might not be a popular opinion and i'm just watching games and videos over here in the warmth I think FOS is that player at the next level.

Even if academy rules aren't changed this year I don't think we'll have any issue securing Champion. He's looking more a late pick or rookie imo.

Also I don't want the club to trade in Curtin from the Crows unless its for a swap of first rounders and a future second. I rate Busslinger higher and don't think Curtin can be that big bodied mid at the next level which is imo the only reason you would trade a high end pick for him. From defence for someone who as a junior showed some elite kicking, the more the pressure went up the more he went for safer options and handballs.

The clubs needs an assistance package, things are going to get worse before they get better.
One does not throw away a top end pick for a project player that doesn't know how to football.

Nothing to do with him but those in charge of making that decision should be shot.

Since Mama Kane has been employed at the AFL, it has become more charitable and philanthropic , to one particular Club.

I think most can .............. join the dots ............ here.

Interesting.

Wonder what NT football thinks of having its developmental pathways used as a prop for the AFL's chosen basketcase of the month. First Gold Coast, now the Kangaroos.

Also makes it likely that North will end up playing at least 4 games in the NT (split between Darwin and Alice Springs) in 2028, possibly 2026 if they can't get an extension to the current deal at Bellerive which is up in 2025.

How long after that until it becomes just North Kangaroos.
