Warner is not leaving this off season .
Better to bank hawks future 1st and target warner next off season .

We can offer our first + future 1st for warner + ? But still hit the draft next season with the hawks 1st .

Freo will blow their wad this season with Bolton and not have enough capital and salary for warner next season .

Hopefully freo take Baker also and we take some younger role players this trade period like peatling , garcia and maybe a Dev salary dump
Im not expecting or hoping for Warner this year.

Im just saying that anymore than 1 of our 1st rounders is too much, our list isnt ready to go like Freo or the Hawks that we can blow multiple first rounders on a single player.

Warner is no Chris Judd or anything

I know but Simmo being nice might?
Unlikely.
He wouldnt mention "A-grade players" if it was just Baker, hed just mention "players".
Even then its not even really worth bringing up if its just Baker. He did say that the queries died down after round 10 too, definitely doesnt sound like Baker

If someone can mount a case for why he’d make something like that up, I’d like to hear it

That said, I’m undecided whether him letting that out is a good or bad thing - feels like something the club would have preferred to stay in house
Or, it does us a favour!

FOMO is a real thing in elite sports. Now the players are asking amongst themselves....who. 'mmmm I wouldn't mind playing with Harley too'

Standard VIC media subtly trying to devalue our trade currency.

‘Eagles won’t play hard ball’
- Heard this exact line with Barass. Trying to precondition the public to us taking unders and make us sound greedy if we don’t

‘Not all Roos fans are rapt about recruiting Darling’
  • Firstly they have 10 fans so pretty poor sample size, and who cares what they think.
  • Secondly, why has no one reported that plenty of Eagles fans ‘wouldn’t be rapt’ with Baker or Graham?

Kennedy is a better mid than Baker or Parfitt or anybody else even vaguely linked to us.
Hes 27, hes 190cm, and hes only on the outer at the blues because they have too many inside mids and they want him to play HFF which he isnt interested in.
He should be right at the top of our list next to Peatling as a defensive inside mid
Well said. If he was 1-2 years younger would be a perfect target for us. Even at 27 he fills a more specific need than Baker and is a better inside mid than Graham or Parfitt. When he has got an opportunity inside he is a very solid contributor, could quite easily see him providing similar service to Redden in his last couple of years. Would help us immensely as a big bodied extractor for a couple of years but sounds like he will stay in VIC. Interesting to see what the Blues would want for him…

The 21st and last video for Jagga Smith who's carried this channel for much of the year while other top prospects have been injured or playing school footy. He ends the season as he's played most of it, with elite consistency across four quarters punctuated with moments of brilliance. Whichever team pulls the trigger on Jagga up near the pointy end of the draft order will not regret their choice.

It's going to be intriguing to see whether Smith can translate that slipperiness and uncanny ability to gather the ball while evading bodies in traffic to AFL level.

He's one of the harder prospects in a while to come up with a good current player comparison for.

Come on. Why would WC play hardball? Darling is cooked - it's a miracle another club wants him. We have Waterman and Allen, and also need to get games in to Reid and JWilliams. On top of that we get rid of his salary

I’m glad JD is getting a gig elsewhere as he is not in our best 22. More a comment on the subtle anti-WCE spin on some of these headlines. Especially the NM fans not being ‘rapt’. Genuinely a bit bizarre and harsh on JD, haven’t seen a similar comment made as part of a headline that I can remember. Hence the comparison with plenty of WC fans being against recruiting Baker for example but the VIC media pushing for us to pay overs.

Yeah fair enough, I get that pov

I disagree that hes cooked, hes not his best but being the #2 instead of the #3/4 and having a midfield that can win a few clearances will make a huge difference to his output

Yeah I agree.

Jagga with uncontested ball seems to be a beauty. I was impressed by his kicking in his last game particularly his short kicks.
