Wce out barrass + f2
In Baker + f1 hawks + 29

Rich out rioli + Baker + f2
In pick 6 + 13

Hawks out F1hawks F1 Carlton
In barrass + f2 wce

GC out pick 6 + 13 + 29
In rioli + f1 Carl + f2 Rich

Richmond can then trade Bolton for 10 + 18 + future 2nd freo to replace there F2

However given the number of kids playing in WA/SA/Vic vs the rugby states, it would likely average out over time.

If you opened it up to all players in other states, you might as well abandon the draft and move to a zonal system. The only advantage of this is it would very quickly thin out the Victorian clubs (except the AFL would almost certainly start zoning bits of WA and SA to Vic clubs in the name of "equalisation")
Im not saying to abandon it, but it will never even out under the current system. I saw something that GC have 800+ kids in their academy, basically every kid in their zone who plays footy they get access so. We get a few aboriginal kids from rural areas. Its just not comparable.

Just need to reduce access for the northern clubs

I think the Hawks just stuffed everybody around for no reason tbh

Yeah maybe. Or maybe we really didn’t like where the Baker conversation was headed so we said to the Hawks ‘go get value for 14 in future picks’

Sydney’s pick 19 is absolutely attainable (along with 22).

F1 (ours) for 19 + 22 is too much. Would love their F1 but that is probably too much. Maybe our F3 plus the Darling pick or similar… (really would love us to have our R3 this year still).

19 is within the agreed range for Baker, then we could deal TB separately (maybe Hawks do offer 2x F1 if they get 22 or 26 back).

So we could lose TB and our F1, but gain Baker, 3x F1 (Sydney, Carlton, Hawks) plus possibly upgrade 26-22…

Probably overly complicated but I really think that pick 19 with Sydney would unlock the Baker trade and leave both supporter bases a little unhappy (I.e. likely a fair trade)

Paul Roos goes whack on Hawthorn's approach. Tapping up a contracted player all year and then decides to trade away the draft pick that would certainly be involved in getting him over.
Thanks mate.
That podcast was a great listen.

I wonder if Richmond plan on sending the pick we send for Baker back to Freo in a deal for Bolton, hence them trying to force our hand in trading for him?
10 & 18 isn't considered enough for Richmond, so why would Richmond send anything back to the Purps?
If we pay them what they and Baker think he's worth that would be way too much to come back even if they change the offer to 10 & 11.
That would just be completely pointless unless Richmond accept pick 26 from us.

Cal at the end of Gettable -

If west coast trade p3 it’s because a player is involved.

We could have just split 14 for 19+22, then give Richmond 19 for Baker and kept 22. Save all this trouble.
F1 can be a whole separate thing

Confirmed breaking news, you heard it here first... I saw Tom Cole and Daniel Veneables at Motel Mexicola last night.

No it wouldn't.

NSW has a population of 8.5M; Qld has 5.5M - WA and SA combined have 4.8M.

Participation rates in Qld at 33% of those in WA would still provide a greater number of players.

Likewise with participation rates at just 25% of WA in NSW.

looking forward to checking this thread in a few hours on my dinner break at work and seeing page 500 and no trades

But we need a full week and a half to complete two whole trades! Wow!

Any chance it’s a sneaky pick 3 and change for Warner? Seems intentionally open ended.

Theres a decent chance that’s the highest pick the Swans will get for him over the next 2 years so they might pull the trigger if they’re resigned to losing him?
