Warner is a gun. One of the most damaging mids in the comp, good age and is from WA.

The ‘downhill skier’ accusation that occasionally gets rolled out on here is nonsense. He is one of Sydney’s only players to show up in their GF defeats and almost single handedly (along with Heeney) dug them out of a late season slump with a couple of elite performances late in games when they were getting beaten and ‘the going was tough’. Better player than TK ever was.

Showed up in the last grand final in the 2nd half after they had already lost the game....

Is Bo Allen a Ginbey clone
I quite like the little of him that I have seen.

Has size, burst speed, a long left foot kick, not afraid to get his hands dirty, likes to tackle.
I would be happy with him as a recruit.

It would be difficult to choose if it was between him and Travaglia. Lindsay is also a good player who has skills we need.

They will probably choose a tall or someone we have never heard of.

Wouldn’t Sydney be better off letting Warner go this year while still contracted, rather than end of next season when he’s out of contract? That’s if he is keeen to leave. We should just throw them pick 12 and whatever we get for Barrass today. Then we’ve still got our own first round pick next year which will likely be top 5.

I will say my respect for West Australians and many Eagles supporters this week has diminished.

Talk about throwing the toys out of the cot.

Seriously embarrassing content on here the past couple of days.
Yes because a majority of us are not happy clapping seals and understand the moves we made has the potential to give us a decade of doom.

The odds we regress next year with an aging Tim Kely and Yeo has gone up a tick.

Our five year plan is shocking
And out 10 year plan is horrific.

Dude we traded pick 3 away , gave pick 14 for Baker while giving Owies a 3 year deal after

The club has lost their minds.... Stop pretending its the fans who have

I have no doubts who has lost their minds.

Zero.

Nada.

The reaction from some fans regarding this is embarrassing. You are one of them.

Encouraging fans to boo the new players. WTF?

It's just childish behaviour.

But the reality is the AFL has created such a boom or bust cycle that this is somehow seen as a good thing. It's a disaster. There is no easy way to rebuild under the current system. What's the point in being a 7 win team? Might as well be a 2 win team and sell the fans on kids.

This is the elephant in the room. Teams used to be able to try and improve, try to push toward making the bottom of the eight and still access Top 10 picks to continue to round out their list quality.

With expansion on the number of teams, academies and now FA compensation on top of the odd FS selection the risk of being caught in no mans land is greatly increased. Finishing 9-12 is purgatory - your list is clearly not in contention but your odds of getting enough missing pieces before age gets the better of you good players is getting vanishingly small.

I think we are going to see an increase in clubs choosing to burn it all down and be uncompetitive for several years which just diminishes the whole competition.

It's going to be a total farce when Tassie comes in and the club is knackered from the start because they are limited in selecting the best available talent. The rest of the clubs without the concessions to protect their talent assets will pay the price as Tassie scoops up everything else that isn't locked down. Tassie will then continue to get prolonged assistance which just extends the pain.

It's a tragedy that the biggest sport in the nation has been steered for so long by vested interests who aren't half as smart as they fancy themselves.

As much as we want Travaglia I can see us taking Allen coz WA kid.

As we know, what fans want and what the club want are miles apart

If we pick Allan with TT available.

That would be very disappointing g.

WC Phill?

Did you interview TT. Is he in play if available at our pick?

Giving pick 3 away, wreaks of new management, prioritising short term success ahead of the long term. Which is more in their own interests.

I thought maybe Worsfold returning before the draft, would be a voice to stop such nonsense.
Worsfold whilst a club legend was in charge while cousins and co were running rampant. Mightve just stuck his head in the sand again

2 x F1s with our F2 going back should get done.

Hawks will know we will likely be shithouse again and they can back themselves in to go for a GF so the difference between our F2 and their F1 won’t be much
Not going to lie - I'm going to froth deathriding both Hawks and Carlton next year

He is just another cog in the rebuild. No one player fixes the issues. And certainly not an 18 year old unknown.
It's not what he brings but the cost. Need a number of the younger players to step up in 2025 to make the cost worth it. And from exposed form I'm not that confident.

I think they'd want to keep him - on a cheap contract for 1 more year and they want a flag.

He'll still be worth a shitload next year

Richmond have absolutely managed to get peak value for all their outgoing players so far (excluding Graham compo). It's absurd. Someone call their bluff on Rioli FFS.

I think it's widely known and accepted they're going to be crap for a while with their new list profile being full of young kids..

But deary me it'll be interesting watching to see how quickly it takes them to overtake us in the rebuild in a couple years time.

Having an absolute bounty of top end talent In a deep draft sets them up hugely. Add a couple FA'S in the right age bracket, given they'll have the salary cap and look appealing, and suddenly they're a competitive club on the rise again before Tazzy start ruining the drafts.

Bit like Hawthorn.

Hopefully none of it happens and it all goes to shit.

We have Matt Owies anyway, so we'll be fine.

Can’t have it both ways though, if I said trade out Allen today for Warner the board would go into a meltdown.
Why? It would be a logical move in the right direction.

The other difference is that our players don’t want to leave like Richmond players do because we are too nice to them. They can get big contracts at the Eagles, not held to account to perform and you wonder why they won’t leave.
I agree with you we need to be better, much better in fact but we have a built in DNA now of being too nice and would rather look good with the public than be seen as a ruthless win at all costs club.

Didn't Worsfold get appointed the week before last and isn't even starting for a bit?

Seems a long bow to draw that he has had anything to do with our trade/draft strategy.

He is a bloody good player mate, you don’t knock them back if you can get them. I wouldn’t give up picks, I would give up Oscar in a heartbeat.

He's a gun, no doubt but he's only one person who would cost a lot. As it stands I think he would cost too much because of the lack of support in the middle and the age of who is in there now. The middle needs more guys who can run through there and perform at a high level.

Sydney have him on a very modest deal for another 12 months, they would be mad to let him go.
