If Darling goes, it's a pity he didn't make the 300 club, he certainly deserved too, but that's footy, not all the chocolates fall your way. A new contract elsewhere (Roos) should be some consolation for him. But it's a perfect time to ease him out and help the rebuild re money, injury, age and slowing down. It's a running slingshot speed game these days.

We are probably not in the box seat for elite trades as they will be wanting to go to clubs that in the premiership window.
The only Elite talent we will get in the short term is via the draft and already on the list.
The best we can hope for is above average talent to help the young talent we have and get via the draft to become above average to elite.
If the best we can get is a Baker and Graham and maybe another 22-26 year old who WANT to be here and WANT to improve the club and list I am happy with that.

We have cash to splash but let's splash it on existing talent we have to keep a core group who want to take the club back into final, Oallen, Waterman, Reid and anyone who goes to another level next year.

Warner could be the icing on the cake next year as the big fish we trade in, just need to show some bloody improvement to help convince him he wants to be part of this great club.

Why does jack darling deserves to make the 300 club? He has played trash for three seasons so he should be thankful he made the 250 club.. he has been carried the last 40 games at least.
If we were a club that wanted high performance rather than feel good touchy feely moments he should have been thrown out the door 2 seasons ago.. thankfully the guys that did his contract have gone

Yeah, Having Darling just to get to 300 is not worth the list spot.

Jack Williams stepped it up big time + we can debut Archer at some point too.

Also there is Maric who might play forward or wing.

Plenty of options there if injuries occur to our big dogs in Allen & Waterman.

He had confidence he could retain his place in a premiership contending side. Going to the Eagles was the easy choice. Hasn't panned out for him, but I'd hardly hold it against him.
