Tigers: 3,11,14

So basically
Out Barass, 3, 24, 60
In: Baker, 6, 18, 28, 68

Then had us drafting a sliding FOS at 8 (after Ashcroft and Lombardo bids), and Whitlock at 20.

Not quite the mummy’s boy but there was some risk

I think his later draft position gave him a wake up call

Besides, with a later pick I get less worried compared to at the pointy end

I guess in that hypothetical the question would be who'd Geelong take with the pick they took Kelly with. Ryan is possibility as they took Kelly knowing we were supposedly keen to get him.

Hes not great, but I had a quick look at their KPD stocks, there is **** all there. At least Young is a big body with AFl experience.

Sam Durdin who is 28 and has 24 games in 9 seasons is the only KPD other than Weitering who is 195cm or taller on their list.
Kemp(192cm) and Young are the two who got games as the #2 and #3 KPDs on their list.
Cant go into a season as a premiership threat if you have no depth in the KPD stocks

Matt Kennedy told he’s free to look for another club. Would he move West after a new addition ti the family. Free to look means he would come cheaper. Carroll staying?

Doubt he’d leave Vic given he’ll have suitors, but would take him in a heartbeat. Blues asked him to play about five different roles this year and he featured in every game. Shafted him in the elimination final with an early shower as the red vest sub, after he’d raced to QLD from the birth of his kid to play for them.

Throw cash at him and a token pick given they can’t be ****ed treating him right.

I don't understand why we wouldn't be near the cap max. Surely, at any given time, you are trying to frontload as much as possible to buy yourself space later.

Because we’re going through a phase of some big money contracts coming to an end

Gaff just retired
Shuey finished last year as did Naitanui and Hurn
Barrass is leaving as may Darling

Also salary cap has increased significantly

Waterman aside, we don’t have any younger or mid age players justifying big pay increases - half our list has arrived since the end of 2021 and all but 3 via the draft

Front loaded contracts help but with our list profile it’s not the only solution unless you’re overpaying players

The dearth of KPD adds weight to the Barrass trade - quality KPD, under contract, being actively sought after, club VC, etc etc etc should mean we get good price.

Be interesting to see where the deal gets done.
