Idiots. This is how we got into the mess keeping Simpson an extra year.
Carlton, who aren't even a particularly good team, are moving on Kennedy, Jack Martin and Owies who are all AFL quality players, and these noobs are up in arms about delisting - checks notes - Jordan 'Turnover' Jones
Better check notes again
Jermaine is his name

We need to delist somebody next year with Darling leaving a year early.

I know it is tongue in cheek but keeping players for 1 more year so we can delist them later is terrible for our list.

Next year we have CJ, Sheed, Cripps all off contract and probably not getting new ones. I’m sure there are more.

This years draft is apparently deep in talent, and is no more compromised than usual. Next year is mega compromised.

So take an extra late pick or two this year rather than next year if we have the choice.

For those bemoaning Jack was so close to 300 games, just remember he stood out from football because of the anti vac stance. Otherwise we would have celebrated 300 much earlier
Jack played 21 games that year. His anti-vax stance didn't prevent him from playing but it took him half a season to get going.

He was also deservedly dropped for 2 games this year. If the club cared that much about getting him to 300 they could’ve given him the Gaff treatment and played him sub etc to limp him over the line.

I was under the impression he wasn't so much anti-vax but simply waiting on one of the other branded vax that was meant to be more natural and better for athletes?

Yep, this approach is about 3 years too late.
It’s interesting isn’t it. We may have got a pick in the 20s, 2-3 years ago when people were calling for the likes of Darling to be traded. Other clubs do it, we very rarely do.

Have the likes of Darling and Gaff offered enough leadership and protection to the younger players to have justified not trading him?

Perhaps it’s the negative of being out West? To attract players in the future, we have to show potential suitors we look after our veterans a little more than other clubs may do

Would have loved JD to get to 300, sometimes things just won't work out how you want it.

His best is long past him, and despite the dipshits saying good riddance and ragged on him during his career, JD was awesome for us in his prime and him going hopefully gives a young fella like Archer Reid some game time.

Like everyone else this type of decision making should have started at least two years ago, and if Ryan wants out, then let him go, will give Dewar a better run at it, with Ryan gone, Ryan is a part time footballer in games now, we don't need that crap in our team if we want to move forward.

Darling has always been one of our more underrated players

Bloke played 298 games and kicked 515 goals, that's hall of fame stuff

Completely missed the fact Darling edged ahead of Suma for goals kicked.

2nd for games played and 2nd for goals kicked. All-Australian and Premiership player.

Club legend.

If we bring Oliver in that might be the straw that breaks the camels back for me. He is the last thing this club needs.

Unfit, off the rails, and lazy.

Being in the Perth footy fishbowl will do him no favours either. He’s a Jesse Hogan type, needs to restart his career at an out of market team where he doesn’t get recognised everywhere he goes and doesn’t end up on the back page every time he breathes.
Three way trade

Swans get Clayton Oliver
Eagles get Chad Warner
Demons get Bailey Williams and Jack Darling (after we trade him back in for Jack Darling)

The Swans are not trading Chad Warner for Clayton Oliver FFS
And we're not getting Warner for a broken down Darling and whatever the hell Williams is meant to be

So far this year i have heard we should delist Darling, Sheed, Jamieson a year before their contract runs out.
Clubs have to make 3 list changes per year. So you sometimes need to offer a player a year contract to be the sacrificial lamb the following year. I also doubt we delist players unless we have viable replacements either good picks or trades. I expect If Rotham being a UFA is picked up by another club than Witherden may survive depending on how many spots we need to use in the draft.

That was a weird time. Glad he took a stance.
