Surely this cannot be the clubs thinking, Victorian kid, could be a flight risk we cant pick him.

Judd didnt want to come to WA either, and we didnt give a * about his feelings. We pick Reid if we finish last or get a godfather offer from Melbourne clubs now or 3-5 years time.
yep this.

Get him over. He might like it and if not hammer out a massive pay day trade for whoever wants him

Is he actually a flight risk, or is it solely because he's from Tassie? Because I can assure you that once a kid leaves Tasmania to move interstate, its rare for them to move back.
Yeah I wouldn’t hesitate to take McKercher personally and the Tassie thing could possibly fall over if the political situation gets worse.

If we end up 16th then Curtin would be favourite at this stage because he’s a West Aussie but McKercher would be a great addition to our Midfield if that’s the way the club went.

I think we absolutely nailed last years draft. Happy to give the recruiting team another 3 or 4 picks in the top 30 to work with.

Watching Butters last night, couldn’t help but compare him to Noah
Long. So glad he is back in the lineup!
Suma never gave the kid much of a wrap in his weekly drivel but I think he’s a gun. For a small young 50s draft pick he’s a bomb

URGE TO KILL RISING WITH EVERY Wardlaw touch

BUT BUT WE also win with with one quarter only Hewitt and HBF Ginbey
Some real class in Wardlaw. If the draft ranking is right the level of class isn't linear. Given the collective wisdom of 18 clubs and a growing depth of testing and analysis you would think the ranking will be pretty accurate.

Which Ginbey have you been watching?

TBH the one who whilst having an admirable first year and an amazing tackler isn't a touch on the talent level or inside ability that Wardlaw has. GWS drafted Cadman because they knew Wardlaw and Sheezel didn't want to leave Victoria. It's that simple.

I'll say it again, until Reid shows some real midfield dominance I just don't rate him as highly as others seem to. That's not to say he won't go number one or if he shows those performances by the end of the year he won't deserve it and become a great player.

I just don't see the whole generational talent there that others seem to see. He can play anywhere on the field and is strong but that doesn't mean he's Dusty.

When you break it down and remove the hype it is only one player in a squad of 22

The Wardlaw pressure fend/evade on the boundary to hit a team mates chest inside 50 looked almost enough to draft a player on. Very very few can do that. We have some that could have hacked a pressure kick - but the composure!

What solidied Wardlaw as an amazing prospect for me last year was his second half in the Academy game. The ability and footy IQ to completely change up his game and mindset to play against bigger bodies was just unreal. If it wasn't for injuries he would have been touted much higher than Reid. You put that footy IQ into a genuine centre square midfielder with a good athletic profile and with good skills and that is what leads teams.

When I watched Moirs highlights he looked Buddy like and generational.

Watch his full games, he just not getting near it anywhere near enough and in a weak league too. You need a certain level of athleticism and skills but at the end of the day elite footy IQ combined with intent on the ball and man are the most important footy traits to look for.

Yeah I'm just saying he looks like a match winner (when on)

I don’t think anyone argued that individually Wardlaw and Sheezel weren’t better players than either of Ginbey and Hewett

The point of splitting the pick was rather than getting one of Wardlaw or Sheezel we were able to get BOTH of Ginbey and Hewett

Our list is lacking quality and quantity so the opportunity to pick up two hopefully A grade players was better than perhaps getting one A+ player

The trade overall also enabled us to get Ports R2 for Rioli who we may otherwise have lost in the PSD for nothing as that was an actual possibility
