Yeah I got no idea about the discounts I’ve just been looking at there picks wondering how eagles can capitalise on it with us having a fair few picks but wanting to get earlier picks

With a health list and a another preseason into Ginbey, Hewett, Chesser, Burgil, Culley, Long, Hough and Reid

Could see us around 14th

Back ourselves

Also, need to speed up the rebuild. Let's get more talent now
14th,? we'll be in the running for bottom 2 again. We'll have retirements, culley coming back from his knee, chesser might not even be in the senior team
We could miss out on another first pick

I could absolutely see the AFL giving Norf pick 3 compo for McKay, even though he isn't worth anywhere near that. The AFL could give Norf pick 3 with a little bit of a wink wink behind closed doors that they have to use it to trade up for Reid. The compo secret herbs and spices formula allows it to happen.

Why would the AFL do this? So that they can take giving Norf a priority pick off the table, whilst also giving both Norfs and our rebuilds a simultaneous kick-start. Norf also gets to keep Ports pick and their future 1st in this scenario(assuming that they would trade up for Reid regardless).

Guys, guys we will have pick #2 again.
No way to outperform North in the losing stakes.
Now, splitting 2 isn't going to be a 🤑sexy cash winner lkke #1 would be.
What do we want? A tall or a small?
Currently it’s either Watson or McKercher for me at pick 2. Edwards dominates for WA and has a good combine he could well push into the top 5.
Curtin unless he plays more midfield time probably slides as a key defender into the 8-13 range. Still so far to go at least we get some state footy this coming month

Assuming both us and North loss every match from here to season end and we beat North to put us on equal points. We would need to beat North by a significant margin (80-100 points) to bridge the percentage gap.
This is assuming current losing margins stay around the same for both teams.
North would have to completely collapse and start having 100point losses to be in the running which they don't seem like doing.

Gavin Bell just said the Jones surgery went well (8-10 week return estimate) so they will only be taking one pick in the MSD

Wouldn’t be drawn on whether that pick will be Maric

So if it’s 10 weeks he plays 2-3 games? Would rather have someone that can play for the whole season - even if it’s just to provide WAFL depth.

Wouldn't have minded a second pic.
Contract length (6/18 months) is nominated by the player right, not the club?

If they finished last would that mean they get pick 2 and we move back to pick 3?

Unfortunately out of the Eagles hands. Doctor needs to sign off that a player will be unable to play for the rest of the year. If they are a chance of returning, however slim, they can't add that individual to the long term injury list

I hope its more a case of the club not rating the MSD and the second pick in particular, as opposed to actually seeing value in the possibility for someone like Jones to come back and play 1-2 dead rubbers...

If its the latter, we have lost the plot. Sadly, I'm worried that might describe our list management quite well.

Why would the keep spots open, only for a chance at playing a few games at the end of the season? It just doesn't make sense.
Take 3-4 in the MSD, we get extra support now and maybe run the chance of finding a gem. It's win/win.

Let the lads with bad injuries have that bit of extra time.

Really?
Never new that, thought the club physio or the likes would have a say in plyers coming back as well.

Was this announced anywhere? I fail to see any other club in the league not announcing a new recruiting manager. Smacks of wanting to hide the "process".
