Even if he ends having an average season, I’d like to see Jack Williams retained on the list. Going forward (especially as we start be real competitive) we need another proper key forward in the side for not only helping out Oscar but also structurally. Still keen on Maric but having one KPF and multiple tweeners isn’t gonna cut it
Given that Darling and Allen are our only other legitimate key forwards currently on our list we don't really have a choice, do we?
I mean even if we draft another key forward at the end of the year it will likely take several years (as is typical for a key forward) before he is established.

Yeah but didnt you want to trade petch for brockman?
I think youve also packed brockmans bags and decided that because he's having twins he'll definitely be coming home so we'll get him for cheap
He's an improving player thats getting a regular seniors gig at the hawks while without our injury woes petch would hardly be getting a look in

A fair trade would be a late 2nd based on exposed form. Nothing more.

Now Hawks will want a 1st rounder and carry on about it.

A our 3rd rounder or a similar player based on exposed form would be a win for us, no doub

Some trades are fairer than others. Dogs happy with the Dunkley deal?

He's OOC and yes does have three very good non football reasons to consider a move home. How that equates to me packing his bags I have no idea. Relevence?

Do you have an opinion?

Lel @ the suggestions of trading Petch. Posters have correctly identified that we wouldn’t get much for him - fair cop, don’t disagree - but he’s one of the few players on the list with some real points of difference. He’s shown some craft around the ball and I’d like to see how that could continue to develop.

People forget how late Shep bloomed into the player he became. I see enough there to work with in Petch that he shouldn’t be discarded.

There’s plenty to cut from the list before him. Stand by the man.
Cmon mate you're at the Bibblumun track talking about Jack Petruccelli? Oof

It wasn’t that he didn’t work out; the situation didn’t work out. Least Simmo tried!
My main point being ; if you’re getting pumped by 60,70,80 points ; bloody hell try the water boy at FF!!

Barrass forward isnt a new idea we tried it last season, and its worth pursuing.

However dont do when we have no one to cover him. At least do it with Gov back there and not first up in the game either. Wait for the right moment to swing him forward.

And Allen should still be forward, Barrass takes the big defender away from double teaming Oscar.

It was a poorly executed experiment.

I guess its how you form your sentences , like its a foregone conclusion he'll come home cause he's having kids
As far as my opinion goes if its a player swap petch wont get anything of value. I'd keep him anyway unless someone comes knocking or he asks to go. Id play him exclusively as a midfielder at wafl level, inside midfielder, he's not smart enough to play outside ,needs the ball jammed down his throat
Brockman, well if he wants to come home sure, lets not assume he will tho hey
Not sure why there would be a swap tho

The assumption was the player wants to move.

There was some logic behind that.

Brockman's worth at the trade table?

If GWS were to offer 4&5 (based on current ladder positions) for Reid then it’s damn tempting…
Could lock in some x-factor like Watson alongside Curtin to shore up our defence, and then pick up the likes of Tholstrup or Moir with next selection.
Go hard on English and Naughton or Taylor through FA and then focus on adding some more midfield talent to continue building around the core duo of Ginbey and Hewitt moving forward.

Without even factoring in all our additional draftees over the next couple years or cellar dwelling, the team could look like this in a few years time:

Bazzo Barrass Duggan
Jones/Hunt Curtin Yeo
Chesser Culley Hough
Tholstrup/Moir Naughton Kelly
Ryan Allen Watson
English Ginbey Hewitt

Bench options: Long, L.Edwards, Petch, Barnett, Burgiel, Sheed, J.Williams

Nice blend of young guns like Ginbey, Hewitt, Culley, Watson, Curtin, Hough and Long coming through and hopefully stepping up in time for veterans like Barrass, Allen, Naughton, English, Yeo, Duggan, Kelly etc to push hard for a flag before hanging up the boots.

It really is remarkable how quickly a list can be completely transformed and honestly I find these rebuild periods (as horrifying as this one is!) to be as exciting as successful periods. Can’t wait to see the next competitive side and their own identity to emerge.

Final step is a good run of injuries of course but maybe that’s the part that isn’t realistic 😂

Would love to pick up Naughton, English and Taylor via free agency.

And honestly good luck WB trying to force a trade with the amount of cap space we'll have then.

Throw in some other cheap acquisitions and elite young talent and I could see us being in the window while Kelly, Barrass, Sheed are still on the list.
