Worked well for us last year but we’d want a ridiculous offer to part with him - 5 & 12 wouldn’t do it for me…
Yep feels like we got less than we should have that trade. Gut feeling Hawks will go full tank with a month to go if both them and us are around the same win/loss, I dont believe for a second we'll finish last.

Haven’t bothered watching the WAFL, how has Burgiel gone these first two weeks? Seen the score line today and that is… wow. Lol

I think whoever finishes last will not trade the pick, the media hype and scrutiny will probably compel the club to take Reid, even if the offer is a ridiculous one.

But clubs will still come hard for 2/3/4, so we'll have really good offers to consider without the fear of scrutiny and criticism in giving up the "next Dangerfield".

Shame Curtin didn’t step up and show his quality in this game. Long season ahead though.

I like the looks of Tholstrup, seems a natural.

After today, if we end up with pick 2 I don't know who I'd take.

I'm probably leaning towards McKercher but that's probably a tad early for him.

Curtin was invisible at full back and Moir just couldn't get into the game.

Long season ahead, plenty more to take shape.

Still did a couple of nice things but I think playing fwd to start the season and then playing back in this game, as a one off, may have had an impact.

Why would the AFL remove Pick1? Thought a fine would be probably be the most obvious course of action.

Do we have a precedence how the AFL will react in such a scenario?
Because I want them to do it - I don’t see the AFL keen to look after Hawthorn and expedite their return to the top

I guess if the racial review was damming then two major scandals come to mind in the Bombers drug saga and the Carlton salary cap breaches.

Both times picks were stripped.

I think it’s a massive whack taking picks away, it along with the fallout from the scandals has set both of those clubs back a decade both times.

People are dreaming if they think we’re getting the number one pick. We torched GWS at home, were competitive against Freo and Melbourne for three quarters before falling away late. Yeah, the injuries hurt but we’ll win a few at home.

You're failing to take into account that at the current rate of injuries there will be no-one left by the bye.

We Torched GWS by 19 points at home after they had played in 35 degree heat the week before and missing a few big names.

Since then we have got Yeo back and lost a dozen….. we aren’t torching anyone by 19 points anytime soon.

You look at the AFL ladder and who do we beat or climb above?

It's a 3 way race for the bottom, WCE, GC and Hawks. Though Norf trying to get in on the action recently after a promising start to their season.

I expect GC to improve, they have some serious talent out there. Or else Dew gets the arse mid-year and the interim coach will get them a few wins as typically happens.

Hawks are terrible by design, but rumours of internal unhappiness with the clubs direction (aka Mitchell's blatant tanking) may see Mitchell forced to try finding some wins. A board spill could see his position under threat if the club are tracking for a spoon.

Meanwhile we're a couple injuries away from a repeat of 2022 levels of player availability. Genuine chance of winning the spoon.

We’ll finish above Hawks and North, could finish above or below GC and GWS. I’m not predicting a flag, just predicting we won’t win a spoon.

Lead was over 30 before we let a couple late ones in.

There are very few, if any games we can be confident of winning this year.

We beat GWS with McGovern, Shuey, Ryan, Cripps, Sheed and Cole playing. Hopefully we will get Sheed back, possibly Shuey although he is pretty well finished and shouldn’t have continued this year. We were miles off it against Melbourne, they toyed with us, then put their foot down and wiped us off the park.

Currently, we don’t have a team but fragments of a team. A few experienced veterans, a few youngsters showing something, and a few mid aged players still trying to establish themselves. There are so many injuries and holes that we’re just shuffling through half a dozen players each week to try and see who might show something somewhere, and to stitch a twenty two to run out on the park.

There aren’t many bright spots, Ginbey, Long, Kelly, Allen, SPS, Duggan, Barrass who should be captain, Hunt is a goer but he coughs the ball up a lot, and a few others at a stretch.
But it’s a long way from a competitive team. We are one of the laughing stocks of the competition.

It'll be us and Hawthorn, Gold Coast are actually decent and will be upper mid bottom 8 by seasons end. I don't see a victory for us in any fixture coming up.

What year were picks stripped from Essendon?

All their players had to sit out 2016, they were monumentally bad and ended up with pick 1 and selected Andy McGrath.

Following talks between the AFL and the accused parties, the AFL announces that the Essendon Football Club would be ineligible to play in the 2013 AFL finals series, would lose first and second-round draft picks in the 2013 and 2014 AFL drafts and receive a $2 million fine.

Lost their 1st and 2nd round picks for 2013 and 2014, although in 2014 they were given an end of 1st round pick as part of their overall sanctions
