Highly doubt it, they have that F/S McCabe kid who’s a key defender and a first round talent, so I don’t imagine they take Curtin along with him.

I think the Hawks would be hot on Duursma, Watson and maybe McKercher.

Well with that info, all stops need to be pulled out to get Gold Coasts pick 4, much like the general consensus of the discussion today, Mckercher and Curtin would be a huge win.

The Wizard could have kicked a bag in this one if he had his kicking boots on, but it was still a solid outing. It's been so long since he played talent league that I'd forgotten they've been mostly playing him up the ground off a wing for Eastern. On the few occasions that he did rotate into the forward line he looked so much more dangerous.

Only knock i'd say with McKercher is that you've got to ask whether his game can translate against men and bigger bodies.

More so the contested part, rather than his outside stuff. I wouldn't think he's going to be able to slip so many tackles, and scoot around stoppages as easily with his 181cm/76kg frame. I guess if Butters can do it at pretty much the same height and weight....?

Curtin at least is putting together a fair chunk of work in the WAFL senios, where he looks pretty classy and not the least bit out of place.
Has he spent any time in the midfield at that level or is that a pipe dream?

Not at league level. Colts and U18 champs he's played midfield.

It's not a pipe dream. If Jordan Dawson can make the switch then he can. He's clean off the deck, gets his hands free and he's agile enough through traffic.

Curtin's worst position is forward. Will get hands on the ball but not bring down marks regularly enough.

It’s a tough one. If you want him to be your chb you have to bulk him up, but that probably ends his midfield potential. If you don’t bulk him up he’s a chance to transition into the mids but leaves him as a third tall.

Tough decisions

I don't know anything about any of these players after having my hopes up for Reid all year, but now I just want the best midfielder possible.

We've already got him.

Hewett just needs a year or 2 to develop. 😏

Think it's time to tell Curtin that if he wants to stay in WA. Time to do exactly what Vic draftees have been doing. Let's screw the draft. Get in his mangers ear. Let Curtin start dictating where he wants to go. Refuse to travel. He must have a keen interest in staying put. After all the media brought this on with Reid. Let's throw it right back at them now with Curtin. Offer him the world. All he has to do is say it.

Don't believe so.

Pretty sure all his game time at Claremont thus far has been mopping up in the backline or a couple brief stints forward.

Curtin would be 100% wasted as a key defender IMO. He's not a lockdown gorilla, he's a skillfull accumulator who cruises around making space for himself with sidesteps and hitting targets with his good left foot kick. Everyone make comparisons to Pendlebury for other players, but for Curtin i kinda get it.

I don't even know what role he'd play for us. You'd have to take a punt on him as a midfielder rather than a 3rd tall behind Barrass and McGovern.

Sounds like we're finally getting our Brander replacement!

Perhaps I should have said ANOTHER best midfielder. Load up.

Ginbey just needs a year or 2 to develop. 😏😏

I can see that. Has a great step, has a heap of time.

But could also see a Sicily like player, pushing up and accumulating.

Mate who is a norf member said the club emailed members to tell them the vAfl has guaranteed them pick 3 as compo for McKay.
Few issues.

1. you don’t have any mates
2. Norf don’t have any members
3. Norf can’t afford a computer to send emails
4. Even the afl and north aren’t that stupid

This might be a stupid question but would Curtin be someone like a Embley? hits the wings for link up?

With the way WCE use their wingman, it'd be a bit of a waste for mine.

1 gimp non accumulating position, which we're currently hiding our first rounder Chesser in, having previously hid our OTHER first rounder Brander in. The other wing is a mixture of Gaff/Ledwards/Clark, who don't push forward and hit the scoreboard at all and aren't damaging by foot either.

Let's just say i never really sit down and watch an Eagles game and think of how much of an impact our wingman have had on the contest.

It's why Curtin is a head scratcher. Could just leave him in defense i guess, let him play a semi accountable third tall defender role and run off his player a bit to provide an option and open the game up with his foot skills. Particularly now Hurn is gone. Kind of the role Yeo is currently doing when he's not mid.

But then where does that leave Bazzo? In the WAFL behind McGovern and Barrasss and not getting a game at all?
