He has been struggling with a hip complaint this season.

That may have affected his form and position.
Yes, it might have. Hopefully the drafting team does a thorough due diligence before considering drafting him because, with the way the game’s heading, he could be an absolute liability when the opposition has the footy based on what I’ve seen.

Who cares.

Enough people to discuss it. Pretty obvious, I'd have thought?

We won't have access to him until next year. By this time next year the landscape might have changed too. Move on from english.
Hopefully. Not worth the price tag of admission, considering the ratio of premiers with gun rucks to average ones.

He's free, costs nothing other than salary.

I swear the shade constantly thrown at English by this board is hilarious. He's going to be the All Australian Ruckman in 2023 ffs. It's not just fantasy points.

He's not perfect, everyone knows this, but he's certainly no scrub. English is ranked elite in so many categories this year it's not even funny.

You telling me you don't want the AA ruck added to our team, without giving up a single draft pick, thus allowing Bailey to play forward like Simpson keeps banging on about?
And damnit, if there's one thing you're an expert on, it's not being funny.

Right, let’s ignore we’ve won 5 out of our last 50 odd games, have been smashed by 100+ points twice by fellow bottom 4 sides, have been flogged by 100+ points like 6-8 times this season etc.
And we can't ignore the worst injury list for two years running.Wouldn't matter who coached us with a very thin list and so many younger players getting exposed very early to afl this is what happens.I wonder if you would feel the same way if we had pick one sown up.

The optimist in me is thinking it’s not the worst if GC beat North as expected. Despite obviosuly missing out on Reid which sucks, we might be able to scum a bonus pick by trading down.

If GC winning means Freo finishes 4th then Melbourne may look to get ahead of Hawthorn as it is reported they are into the same players (Duursma and Watson). I don’t think Melbourne would want/need Curtin and the Hawks definitely wouldn’t given they have so many defenders (Weddle is very similar Curtin as well) and McCabe also coming in.

So maybe pick 2 for pick 4 and a late 1st/2nd rounder. We end up with Curtin anyway.

IF Yeo wants to go to Essendon I’d looking at somehow working that into a trade for GC’s likely pick 5. Wouldn’t be the worst result with Yeo hardly being on the field in the last 3 years & not being around for the next flag challenge. It’s only IF though
Yeo to Essendon could work only IF he wants out. 12 games from Yeo is better than 0

Trade for Yeo as per below;
1. Essendon don't active band 1 for McKay
2. WCE agree to no bids on Walter
3. Essendon send 8 and 27 to GC for pick 4
4. Eagles send Yeo, 40 and F2 for pick 4 (pus Yeo value around pick 29)

In summary Yeo, 40 and F2 for pick 4

Don't really see how that's worth it for Essendon. Yeo ain't worth pick 4, even with what we give out.

Long has an offer in front of him. Working through the details. Club would have liked to announce it along with Hewett and Ginbey but there’s some back and forth on terms that didn’t get resolved in time.

Expect a 2 year extension to be announced along with Culley.

Could be just before or just after Adelaide game.

Culley’s manager was on the latest episode of gettable and confirmed what I said the other day. They are waiting on ROB to send through the deal “hopefully this week” and should be done.

I assume this says we’re chasing Matt Flynn?

Not much new, other than the Culley confirmation

Eagles mentions/potentials.

  • Jai Culley Deal, his agent said they are waiting on contract to come through this week and they'll turn it around quite quickly. Apparently he's coming along really quickly from his injury. Has to be held back cause he's so eager.
  • Brayden Pruess, his agent said that had a very frustrating season. GWS want and need him though.
  • Jordan Sweet on the radar
  • Flynn is on the radar as well, he's out of contract
  • Brockman is real chance to eagles

DGB out of contract at Hawks next year.

Do we look to deal this year?

It would certainly provide the Key Def depth we are currently lacking.

As a former Top 10, it will no doubt need a good price.

The risk is if he has a breakout next season, he won't be available. (Hawks will lock him away).

Preuss is pretty much constantly injured as it is. Put our medical team in charge of him and he might actually die.

Makes me wonder how we got Vardy fit for 2018 considering his run at Geelong.

The likelihood of this is extremely low...

Imagine if we want him next year we can have him. Think he's closer to being delisted than getting another contract.

Not sure what's happened to him given he was highly rated pre-draft.

Key Position players can sometimes take a couple of years to find their way.

I wouldn't be surprised if DGB needed one more preseason to start finding his feet.

We are currently in the position of having Gov (injury risk), Barrass (minimal risk usually) as the starters with only Bazzo (young) and HEdwards (inconsistent) as the backups.

Yes, we may draft Curtin. But why pigeonhole him to KD, given the wraps on his versatility?

Sometimes it's worth rolling the dice.

The Hawks had some interest in Ryan. Could he be brought into some deal?

I'm not saying we don't look at him, just don't expect a breakout next year. He's looked miles off it so far.

Truly is a strange case.

Denver Grainger Barrass would be worth a pack of twisties at the moment.

It’s not his skill or ability.

There were genuine concerns over his ability to build a tank. He looks exhausted after a half of footy.

There haven’t been any real concerns over his application. A view is starting to form that he may just be an extremely poor endurance athlete (genetics?) and he may not make it on that basis.

Not much you can do if that is the case.

If we want a KPD we should look at Zakoletsky who is WA boy and starting to get attention (gettable).

If we are into DGB it should be a token pick, or wait til next year.

Hard to see a deal getting done. Hawks would want to retain him rather than sell low. Under no circumstances do we offer Ryan for DGB.
