1) What picks would you relinquish #1 for
2) can you see a club being able to engineer that scenario?

Needs to be at least a pick that gets us either McKercher or Curtin which means something in the top 3, possibly 4 depending on the level of interest in Duursma

Then something else in the top 10 and a F1 attached to a club expected to make finals

I think that’s a minimum and suspect it won’t be popular here if we did do a trade like that

As for which club a lot depends on where the McKay compo lands and whether North are given the ability to match a bid on Sanders. Melbourne seem the most likely but they’ll likely need to involve another club(s) to get the necessary picks

We don’t need to do any legwork though - it’s up to Melbourne (or any other club) to put together a package to tempt us

Interesting

Would you accept Coniglio & GWS's 1st for #1?

We have to retire, delist or trade hard this year. So many has beens or players who have been here way too long for little output. Get as many 2nd & 3rd round picks in as possible. The Beagles are going to need something special to keep them going. All those mid aged Spuds like West, Clark, SPS etc will return back to home clubs.

The Eagles need to merge with Perth, have only Eastern staters listed players. The WA boys play for grass roots clubs. Same goes for Peel/dockers. Only exception is if Freo draft a perth boy they swap over & vice versa.

This off season Peel are also about to lose a lot of Senior Freo talent also. Hamling, Colyer, Taberner, Talks of trading out Will Brodie. This will be the biggest Trade/Draft Period for the whole comp.

Out of curiosity I watched that bit of TRSF just to see what Clarkson said

When talking about the value of pick 1 and pointing out it doesn’t necessarily help win premierships

“.. then maybe pick 2, pick 3, pick 5. They’re still going to be good picks and good players so we’ll just take what we can get”

I interpret that as good players being available generally at those picks not that he’s expecting North to hold those actual picks

Why wouldn't`t he have said Pick 4 as well ?

McGovern has never been good 1 on 1 .

Wrong.

2016 McGovern was ranked 3rd for 1v1.
2017 & 2018 McGovern was ranked 1st for 1v1

Yeah Curtin and McKercher would be the dream but I don't see a way it happens.
I agree, probably just take Reid. My worry is Bond and co getting involved in some stupid deal with Garry and Melbourne and us ending up with a bunch of guys outside the top 3

It’s what I’m scared of as well. If Melbourne offer 5, 15 and a future 1st, I could see us falling for the quantity over quality.

But ROB did say 2 top 10 picks wouldn’t be enough on Gettables a month ago, so maybe we’re worried about nothing.

Melbourne could get the Suns 1st and offer 4 and 5 though, wouldn’t shock me if we accepted that, I wouldn’t be happy with that personally, but it wouldn’t be melt worthy.

Clearly we have a few areas to fill, but one I think we are in need of a decent pressure forward- ball has been bouncing out of our forward line a little bit too easy. Allen is a star, and Williams is developing but neither are going to get you too many run down tackles against the quicker running defenders.

Someone like Brockman would be perfect if the rumours are true, otherwise I’d be keen on us taking one with a later pick.

Push Long higher up the ground for next year where he can use his skills and nous to set up scoring opportunities for us.

Speculating here.

1. The club won't entertain any offer that doesn't include the means of getting Curtin. Only way we're overlooking Reid, is for him. So I daresay melb, or any other club with a "godfather offer" can GTFO.

2. The idea of "loading up on 3rd rounders and getting whatever we can" is silly when we're likely only taking 4, at most 5 picks in this draft and our 4th selection is currently pick 38. Unless we lose some of our first 4 picks through trading (unlikely given who we've been linked to), or get a juicy offer for pick 19, you'd assume we won't be adding to our current draft hand.

What if Melbourne offered 5, van Rooyen and Grundy?
I hope we tell Melbourne to GAGF personally, arrogant campaigners.
BUT....if we don't I hope whoever we get with the Cockburn pick they own turns out to be an absolute superstar so we can throw it in the purples faces for the next 15 years or so.

I don’t like it myself, just trying to come up with what would interest the club to trade pick 1.

I am all for keeping pick 1.
