I have spoken to Lance Collard a few times and he is one of the quietest players you will ever meet.
Hardly speaks to his team mates is very much a introvert
I think he would really struggle interstate, and i believe interviewing interstate clubs would come away thinking the same thing
That's why i believe he will slide into the 40's unless Freo go for him
Just let Curtin know the steps taken in any interstate clubs‘ interview if he wants to stay in WA:
1. Wear headphones in the interview.
2. Wear sunglassess in the interview.
3. Wear surgical mask with a few cough in the interview.
4. Answer questions with no more than a phase of 2 words:
a) Hi;
b) Yes:
c) No;
d) Don‘t know;
e) Not interested;
f) Bye;
Gurantee we can pick him up with pick 19

It's the age old question, talent or needs. I think it's pretty much gospel that you take talent before needs. You fill in for needs at the middle-back end of the draft. You don't overlook someone like Collard for needs - supposedly the best talent in WA, you take him. So we need to select him before Freo get a go at him, or as some have said, do a deal with Freo not to touch each others NGAs.

Some info came to my attention today.

Sydney are heavily into Charlie Edwards, and are concerned he won't make there second pick 22.

Is he worth 19 for us? Another 190cm back flanker wanna be big bodies mid. Just read twomeys take on him and I guess that's why he has appeared in his top30.

Maybe Sydney want him enough they'll offer us 22 and 30 for 19 and 55.

Cripps retires end of 25

Ryan only tried and tested on list capable of playing small forward role for next 5 years.

Long only at start of career

Petch, that shipped has sailed needs to have a role elsewhere

Brockman, speculative trade

Maric and Culley, not small forwards.

At this stage of the rebuild are we really prioritising a flashy, skilful but inconsistent small / medium forward?

Unless they are Isac Rankin or Rachel levels of output (which Collard is not) they shouldn't be considered atthis stage.

But is he a talent worthy of that selection?

Sounds like people are keen to jump with our 2nd because of FOMO. Not because he is ranked ahead of others around that pick.

I back Sydney’s talent identification, just take Edwards at 19.

If we're tough enough at the trade table

Pick 19 -> 22 ,30

Use pick 55 for Collard if he reaches pick 40 .

Otherwise no deal

Sydney seem to always just go and get a new ruck from other clubs when they need one.
I think this is the best play tbh.
It takes a lot of work to unearth a genuine ruck. But even once you've found them and built them up... they're not worth alot and not that hard to pay for.

Better to spend the picks around the midfield rebuild. Then drop a ruck in when we're ready.

This is exactly the type of deal we should be looking at doing for pick 19.

Although could more look like;

19 for 22 and 30 and F3 swap.
