It's the age old question, talent or needs. I think it's pretty much gospel that you take talent before needs. You fill in for needs at the middle-back end of the draft. You don't overlook someone like Collard for needs - supposedly the best talent in WA, you take him. So we need to select him before Freo get a go at him, or as some have said, do a deal with Freo not to touch each others NGAs

Who cares if he's the so called 2nd best WA talent in 2024. Is he the best available at our pick?

Or do we just take WA talent no matter the pick? We all know the answer to that is no.

when you read the below do it in Gills voice.

At pick 27 Essendon select Lance Collard from the Subiaco Football Club.

Its Happening Ron Paul GIF

Sorry Phil couldn’t help myself 🤣

We asked for fixture assistance instead remember

Nisbett wants 1 extra home game and no away games to Gabba or GWS home ground
Thats only going to really help if we are contending. Means nothing to us when we are at the bottom. AFL will just take it away if we make finals again probably.

Some info came to my attention today.

Sydney are heavily into Charlie Edwards, and are concerned he won't make there second pick 22.

Is he worth 19 for us? Another 190cm back flanker wanna be big bodies mid. Just read twomeys take on him and I guess that's why he has appeared in his top30.

Maybe Sydney want him enough they'll offer us 22 and 30 for 19 and 55.

Or maybe we take him instead? Have heard good things about him.

I’m surprised they cut SPS. I wasn’t keen on his recruitment in the first place but I thought he was pretty useful this year on the odd occasion he played, and he showed the ability to find time and deliver the ball effectively inside 50.

I’m glad to see Trew hanging in there.

Trew staying was a certainty in hindsight , pleasing he continues.

No real surprises except perhaps SPS. Trew may have the winning ticket which I don't mind.

Can I just say that so far I've called this, as has many of you, that we need to retire Shuey, NN, Hurn and delist Foley, O'Neil, Clark. I feel like the club is moving in the right direction, making some appropriate decisions more aligned with what a good club is.

Now we just need to use pick 1 on Reid and trade for Brockman and Robertson (or Will Brodie who's been decent for Freo but lacking game time and would be a good strong body to help out young mids).

Correct me if i'm wrong...

That's in total...

7 off the main list (3 retired 4 cut)
2 off the Rookie List?

Correct.

4 draftees, 2/3 tradees and possibly Culley upgraded to the senior list.
