As someone who’s not a draft watcher as such I always find it interesting how drafts get perceived

In the lead up to last year the prevailing view was last years draft was a bit meh and this years was something of a super draft

Turns out many of the players taken last year are developing quite nicely and the underagers from last year have yet to come on - even Reid doesn’t seem to be capturing the imagination in the same way he did last year

Not having a go at you by the way I just find it interesting. Hopefully this cohort shows a bit more in the coming weeks
The one thing I can say about the draft with confidence is no two are the same and it's not really until the last few months leading into the draft do we truly know the quality. The growth and development of players in their final year is so rapid things move so quickly. Some players are developing so quickly when they hit the draft, at club land they take off.

I don't think super draft should be used until after the fact! It is true coming into this year was pretty exciting as so many players were playing really well last year as underagers, it just seems like they haven't gone up a gear at all so far. The three that have are all Gold Coast academy.

Last years draft, I really liked. The top 20 looked very good and I was excited to have two picks in our range as there was so much talent. By the time of the draft I thought the top 35 was very good.

As you said, hopefully this years cohort start rising between now and the draft and we get priority picks. God we need them...

What did our recruiters see in Chesser that others didn't.
Odd day to call it out, he looked okay as sub today. Clean hands in the third quarter especially.

He's going to be a slow build but there's a player there.

Might be better to draft all the best WA kids.

Trade anyone not from WA out and bring in good WA kids.

Lol. WA has the shittest state side for the last five years. We want to turn wce into a state team that is the shittest state team.

Jesus. You wonder why the shittest state team doesn't translate to a good afl team.

Look at port in contrast. Adelaide has been amazing state team. And to no surprise they translated a damn fine state team into a damn fine afl tean.

need to look at trading barrass for a top 10 pick, this is like Gaff 2.0.
Nobody is saving our KPD's from getting mauled. In the case of Barrass we should trade him as he'll age out and losing him won't impact our percentage much. Maybe 45% instead of 47%.

I turned away from the Eagles game at quarter time, and watched the last quarter of the Coates U18s - WA vs SA, and I was surprised. I was expecting a loss, but we had a very comfortable win. Only saw a quarter, but some quality there for us. Definitely split pick 1, pick up as many of Curtain, Edwards, Hall, Hine-Bastion, Lindbergh, Livingston as possible.

It might be reckless to draft Reid at this point. Hard to imagine anyone hanging around for this trash except WA boys
if we draft the right talent, it will change pretty quickly. As in a few years bottom 4 and then a quick ascent up the ladder.

Assuming we get #1, and no one offers us a top 5 pick and 2x top 10 picks on top, I'd be taking Harley. And I'd be reminding him of this fact:

There are only 3 players in the history of the club who have played over 150 games, who missed out on a premiership for reasons other than injury or suspension.

So if you play 150 games, it's highly likely that you will go home with a premiership medallion. Playing for the Eagles is like playing Auskick - everyone gets a medal.

This would be the envy of probably all clubs.
