Venables - I understand, do the 'right' thing and keep him on an extra year.

Vardy - I understand, 'break glass' as a last resort, still should have played 0 games.

But Hutchings and Ainsworth? Both delist material at the end of 20 and I've been saying it late last year and all of this year.

What a waste of space. Keeping them on achieved what?

Having players to delist this year. If we delisted them last year we just would have been drafting someone on a 2 year contract with pick 80 or something like that. Getting another plodder. May as well let Ainsworth and Hutch help the Wafl team for a year.

I'd rather be churning through pick 80's and occasionally find a gem.

Keeping role players like Hutchings on looks silly with a bit of hindsight but we expected to be right amongst it this year, contending for top 4 and a flag. Role players are vital for having a premiership tilt. You need the depth to carry out the game plan when your top line players get injured.

I don't really care that we kept them on. I think it just looks worse now because we played like shit for most of the year and missed finals.

Certainly haven’t given up on X O’Neill, or Zane Trew coming good either, Trew has some brilliant skills in close. Hopefully this coming year he shows his talent. Winder and Edwards, have already shown they’ve got some talent.

I would say his departure is more to do with our finish to the season than his performance.

He has said he wants to wait until his current deal expires before looking to extend. 2022 or 2023? Not sure if that is at rfa stage.

While I agree with you Keys as his time at the Club was very disjoint with the whole Covid situation, sometimes there are players that join the Club after said player, who plays the role better or develops faster and overtakes that player.

I suspect that the arrival of Witherden to the Club last trade period, played a part in Johnson's spot becoming vulnerable.

Johnson 20 years old 179 cm 73 kg
Witherden 23 years old 188 cm 86 kg.

Pretty simple decision really Witherden is bigger, stronger and better.

Also agree reduced list sizes would have played a part in the decision too.

Witherden is so much slower though. Like treacle slow .
As a defender he is very much a liability when it comes to matchups

We do need some support for Nicnat as Williams seems fragile up to this stage ..
Not sure what the machinations required to land English entail ..
