USA draft based sports do, to an extent.

It’s basically a combination of talent identification, biometrics (that’s the wrong term, I’ve forgotten the correct term), and a statistical approach on the type of players to draft where, and where to trade picks in the draft.

I do like the idea of viewing picks as lottery tickets and the more you take, the more chance of winning.

This is going to blow some posters' minds on this site, but there are lotto numbers that statistically are drawn more often than others.

If you have an online for TheLott, they even tell you the likelihood that numbers get picked.

Thanks. I went and searched his stuff. It's obvious we're not the same person. But I did try and find some stuff I diagreed with. So far:

Lambasted some dude for saying Le Cras was being played out of position
Lamented that we won 8 games on year instead of 4 and missed out on 2x top 5 picks
Opined that we had a gun side because for no other reason than we had Judd, Cousins, Kerr, Cox
Said Beau Water was over rated

I'm trying to find what his thoughts on Priddis were because I thought he was a spud and wanted to trade him around his Brownlow time.

I haven't found him saying any stupid shit yet. But he's not me.

I don't believe we have a pick there. I assume next year we will have another top 5-ish pick. Cutting it fine considering we probably need a gun KPF as well.

Also, there will be that player between 5 and 15. Probably just one though. How do you know which one? The answer is we don't and nor do the clubs. That's why that top 3 pick is so important - you have much better odds of guessing correctly.

I'll admit he was a bit of a twat when he first started posting but he's tempered his language a fair bit.

You don't have to engage with him if you don't want.

Let's not 'cancel' people, simply because we have a difference of opinion, especially when a lot of those wanting to cancel said poster are guilty of the exact same behaviour they complain about.

Mattaes Phillipou and Cam Mackenzie.

I don’t believe there’s a Dusty Marin or Petracca type in this draft, not one who can run through midfield.

Wardlaw could be a mini Oliver, but a big part of what makes Oliver, is his size and height.

I do believe there looks like a good group of mids who could be at that Brayshaw level of quality (not plays like).

But you never know how a kid will turn out.

Hewitt was BOG (ok, maybe jefferies or whatever his name is). But some of the ball handling skills that Ashcroft has (which I've seen him have in other games) is a class above. I see some risk in Hewitt (is he Cripps or is he SPP, or somewhere in between). With Ashcroft, I'm pretty sure he's going to be a gun - just not Dusty/Cripps/Fyfe gun.

Ashcroft is class but he's 180cm and while he isn't slow he's not setting any records.

Good in close and by foot in space.

I'm across bell curves and SD. The problem is that you are deciding who is at the edge of the bell curve before they start their career.

This draft not sure that level of quality is there. It is a difficult draft to follow with all the covid breaks etc over the past two years. We are seeing u18 championships at least and there is more football being played.

You are assuming that at pick 3 (Ashcroft to Lions assumed top 2) we will on average get access to at A+ elite mid. My view is the mid we aremore than happy to draft will be there at pick 5.

And if he isnt Busslinger looks like a really nice pick up at 5. Or Hewett or Clark or Tsatis.

I get Andy Brayshaw vibes from Wardlaw tbh, from what I've seen.
